Do you think Tony Stewart is driving out of control? This is defind as taking rageful and dangerous action agains another driver for bumping and banging him (rubbinng is racing) in the normal course of the race.

That is part of stock car racing. He was a huge success in open tire racing (IRL champ) so he does what he has to do to be the best. No bumping in open wheel. Part of the game in stock car racing is the bumping and grinding. Everyone camplains about Tony, how about Jeff Gordon? He does the same. How do you think big Dale E made it??

as a nascar champion i belive tony stewart should act like one, his actions are dangerous to him and all drivers on the track. it seems tony goes out of his way to trade paint with other drivers. to compare this guy with dale earnhardt is an insult,we dont see jr driving like that. these guys are pros and trading paint is part of the game when its called for (pass, move a slower car, fighting for the win) is fine ,but just because is not a good enough reason to maybe hurt someone at 180 mph

It's a miracle that knot-head didn't kill somebody when he intentionally wrecked the 17 car.

RE: Big Dale E

I never saw Dale Sr. do what Tony Stewart did, which is why I respect the man. Dale did drive hard and push people out of the way for position... what he did not do (that I am aware of) is move over 3 lanes of traffic to intentionally run someone off the track, possibly killing them, and others who had nothing to do with the issue.

All the boys trade paint. It is inherant in the sport and I think makes for good racing. I think some of you have a different idea of the definition. Bumping and Banging for position is trading paint. Moving over 3 lanes to run someone off the track because they stuck ther pecker in your sister is way beyond the boundary of today's NASCAR. Remember this is the 21st century and NASCAR is no longer a South Eastern US motor sport. It is watched globally, and these guys need to set examples for the young kids out on our roads today. Do you want your 16 year old doing what Tony Stewart did because NASCAR thought it was OK? Get over yourselves. Really!

By the way... if you can prove to me that Dale Sr. ever moved over 3 lanes to run someone off the track... you let me know what year and track, and I'll go look at the incident myself. If he did, I would lose respect for him as well. Given that I am only 30, I did not have the opportunity to watch his beginings, just the last few seasons.

Looks like another season of one set of rules for Tony Stewart and another set of rules for everyone else. It's all about Tony Stewart again this season. He should be suspended for the rest of the season as an example of what will happen to any racer that acts like that from here on in. This isn't a Saturday afternoon demolition derby, these are professional drivers pushing their million dollar vehicles to the limit. If you don't happen to have a great performing vehicle on a given day that doesn't mean you can intentionally wreck other cars to get to the finish line. I, for one, am tired of hearing about his antics on and off the track. He overshadows the rest of the great drivers out there.

The best ususally do outshadow the rest. Nascar racing is just that "Racing". It is amazing that noone remebers Dale Sr's driving habits. I became a Stewart fan when I watched Him and Dale Sr drive from the back of the field to the front. They followed each other through the middle the outside or the inside. Dale Sr would get em loose Tony would dive underneath then Dale would follow. Then Tony would get it to where Dale could pass.
Tony Stewart brings excitement to Sunday afternoons the same way Dale Sr did.
RUBBING IS RACING... BRAKES ARE FOR P####IES.... IF YOU CANT RUN WITH THE BIG DOGS STAY ON THE PORCH.....
What is your favorite part of the movie Days of Thunder. Be honest about it. Most will say it is when Tom Cruise drove out and ran into the driver after the checkered flag.

since NASCAR has a set of rules in place that all drivers must race under, then to have a fair race, all drivers need to have the rules applied equally.

Gee isn't this amazing that this thread is not about Kyle Busch?

Tonys out of control and he's my man.Watch a race with out that kind of action and the next day all you hear "dull race''.Don't get me wrong i'm not looking for anyone to get killed even Robbie Gordon (Danika basher).Besides Home Depot is dumping so much $$$ that Nascar is very carefull not to upset the money wagon. The big plus is Tony didn't wreck anyone during qualifing today. TAKE 'EM OUT TONY !!!

OK, so tomorrow the rules stay the same and everybody else on the track careens 3 lanes wide and knocks Tony into the wall. Well, that's fair, right?
The boy ain't right in the head! One day he's talking about being worried that somebody's gonna get hurt out there, and the next day he's trying his best to make it happen!
Boot him!

That is NASCAR. I am not so sure that the so called 'careen 3 lanes and knock somebody out' was really intentional. If you can't enjoy NASCAR for what it is there is always ice dancing.

Nascar is a contact sport, maybe you should watch something less violent like hockey.

Oh, I thought for a moment that this was an opion poll.
My bad. You of course are entitled to yours.

My favorite Dale Earnhardt quote: "Put a kerosene-soaked rag around your ankles so the ants won't climb up there and eat your candy ass."

Boys - This is NASCAR, nough said? ;shrug

Stewart

I'd suspend him for a year from Nextel and make him go to trucks or Busch series if he wants to run. That would send a major message. If they can suspend a crew chief 4 races for doing what they all try to do--get an edge--then he should be suspended for the season for what he attempted to do to 17 and his other brushes in the same race.

He said in the interview after the race it was intentional. I enjoy NASCAR...but not stupid intentional acts which could kill someone.

Nascar racing has always been a payback sport. I agree what he did was dangerous but I don't think Tony expected the result he got from his action. I would like to see what Mat did to Tony before that. Tony don't do something like that unless the guy really had it coming.
