( you guys came thru with flying colors in helping me check out my 96 when Susan and I bought it)

Its the right time to buy a corvette, right? hahaha!

Seriously though,
6sp, 55k miles, prefered equipment group 2 option.
Has dealer service records.

What should I ask the owner about?
Oil Consumption? Did he have the rings replaced?
Column lock?

I know he had the radio lock when he unhooked the battery.
Apparently the car had several mods that he has removed and sold elsewhere.
( BORLA MUFFLERS (not stingers)
HAL QA1 12 way adjustable shocks front and rear
HOTCHKINS sway bars front and rear
Halltech air intake with filter
12 cd player
GLASS head lamps
BEAR ROTORS front and rear . (fronts have stress cracks rears are fine)
REAR cargo net)

Shame he removed those. I would have liked to have them on board.

Should I offer a lower price due to the fact that there has been some tinkering on this 2001? Now that he has removed the factory, installed aftermarket, and then removed aftermarket and reinstalled factory.. some things could be loose or incorrect.

Thanks for any heads up issues and advice
Rain
(no im not able to view the car in person)

What's the asking price?

Got any pics?

Does it look ruff?

How are the tires?

Where is it located @?

Someone from CAC can look @ it for you, Edmond went and test drove our new 1.

I have a 2001 6spd and I'll tell you a few things I missed when I bought the car. First was the speakers. Both drivers side were fine but the forward passengers was missing, yea completely gone and I never knew it cause the cover was over it and not being on the passenger side I couldn't hear it. So check that all six (4 speaker units as the front speakers each containt two) are working corrrectly. Also check out the lights. The connection on my left headlight looks a little burnt and occassionally gets loose and goes out. Other then that I've had no real issues, but one thing you may want to ask is are the airbags still in there, sometimes they get canabalized.

Also, does the top leak at all

Check the parking brake. I'm not sure if parking brake problems exist on all C5s, but mine is just decoration. Holds a little if the car is pointed down hill, and not at pointing up hill. I have a 2001 6spd coupe.

Have a few pics of the ext. and one of the driver's side interior.

Ext looks flawless and very clean. Interior does too.
no pics of the seats or the tires or the engine.

Imagine if he just pulled those parts that he cleaned while he was there.

again, no idea on life left on the tires.

car is in queens.

Nice pics. If the rest of the car is as well kept as the paint, you might have a winner!!!

Good luck ...... Ron ..... :beer

yea, I know.. scares me..

:) he sent me the carfax tonight. all clear there.
looks like he is the 2nd owner. Originally was in Maryland.

The car does look nice and I noticed it has the z06 cold air screens on the front which I think are a nice addition. Queens (I'm assuming NY) isn't too far from me if you needed help with it although I don't know how good of a test driver I would be but I could def get a visual and some more pics for you. Also there are even closer members then me on this forum.

That was my next post.. Trying to find someone in the NY area that didn't mind checking it out.

Not sure if the screens are still on it. He listed it for sale a month ago with a handful of mods, but has since sold them and replaced the stock parts.

Let me know if you(or someone else is in the area).
I will write him and ask for a specific address.
Greatly appreciated!
Thank for the offer.

Rain,
There are some real crappy roads in NYC. To be fair Queens is about the best of them. I would be sure to double check for bent wheels, small accident damage repairs and undercarriage damage especially the small skid rails under the front bumper. From the list of those parts he took off it sound like this car was autocrossed or roadraced. Then again maybe the guy just liked the juice of having cool parts on the car. One good thing the stock parts don't have all the miles on them and putting them back on gave the owner a chance to make sure everything was tight. If the price is right fly out and take a look. There is a good place in Long Island (not that far) called The Vette Doctors. Maybe you can have them bless it before you decide to buy. http://www.thevettedoctors.com/ If all systems are go then buy it have the Doctors change the oil the zoom back home.
If Worse comes to worse and you don't buy it you take a NYC vacation. Go to Radio City for the Christmas show, see the tree at Rockefeller center, go to Saint Pat's, see a Broadway show for half price.

Enjoy.

My comments on the pictures:

If it had all that done to it and then removed I would be leary. I have an 01 m-6 and it was using oil by 5000 miles but I had the motor rebuilt to my specs so that fixed that.
