my 81 finally went to the body shop to get repaired and painted!!!!!!!!!!!:D at long last!!!:upthumbs hopefully it wont take as long im getting SO itchy to cruise!!!b4 its to late!!!!!:beer

What had to be repaired and what color did you choose? You will be so excited to pick her up in her new clothes!
Heidi :w

the entire front nose needed to be replaced(it was already apart when I bought it,the previous owner had started to do some of it himself, but was not experienced at fiber glass repair there was NO WAY I would even THINK of trying it!!!!he had most of the new pieces already,as well as the glass work around the headlites needed some repair and to be put back on the vette!!!)it is still black from a previous paint job but it is bubbling and peeling off every whereon it...so I am going to put it back to dark blue metallic, which is the color it was born with there are some minor rust issues that I want repaired b4 it gets out of hand, and now is the time to have them addressed while it is at the body shop!!!

I am beginning to feel like a little kid on x-mas now that it is starting to get worked on!!!!:D :upthumbs

Here's hoping you get it back in time for some nice weather cruising this summer and fall. :beer

Bill,

You and Gail must be so excited now that the end is in sight!! How long did the shop say it would take? Maybe in time for Carlisle??? Keep us all informed as to the progress.

Elaine

will probably be 4-6 weeks, but i knew that in the spring when i 1st talked to him about doing it ... he is very good, and is worth the wait.if it take longer so be it,i would rather wait and have it done right than to push him and have mistakes made!!!

Hi Bill,

I took Rare in this last April for a fresh coat ;)

I debated for years to go with the original Laq. paint, even bought it. But out HERE the Laq paint is ILLEGAL, I'm lucky I'm not in jail :eyerole needless to say since I had her painted out here in Kalifornia, she got base coat / clear coat.. Chromium Dupont...

Long story short, I went to see Rare right after it came out of the paint booth and was drying.. My buddy said man she looks brand new.... All I saw was ORANGE PEEL other than that Rare was gorgeous..

The guy that owns the shop must of seen my dismay, because he took me over to the "cut" section of the shop and showed me (of all things a "Mustang") that was almost finished being "cut" (buffed out with 2000 wet sand paper). The "thang" was showroom or better :eek ... Then he started laughing, and said we even used the cheap paint on this one... yours has the "Good Stuff".. Well, Rare turned out better than I could have hoped for.. end of story ;)

I wish I could have gotten photo's of her going through her makeover, just never thought of it..

Bill,
Just out of curiosity, what shop is doing the work for you? Roxy's paint is fine for now, but for future reference...
