Last night my 82 just quit. It appears to be similar to the other posting about vapor lock (which I found out, if interested that that cannot happen with injection, at least I was told that). I tried about everything and got down to the fuel pump was not working. I can put gas into the injectors and it will start but won't run. I jumped a hot lead to the fuel pump and it started. So now the question is does anyone know if and or where there is a fuse, fuseable link, relay or what ever is controlling the fuel pump?
Thanks
The relay is under the storage compartment behind the pass. seat. If I'm not mistaking it has 2 red, 1 orange, 1 green/white, 1 black/white and another wire on it
You can easily check if the pump by shorting it to the 12V switched power pinout on the fusebox (there's one on the left side, says IGN on it)
If the pump ruds & the injectors are firing it could be the relay. However, it could also bbe the oil pressure sender (it's a safety switch too, turns off fuel pump in case of low oil pressure)
Furthermore it could be the fuse in the orange RAM power lead running from the ECM to the junctionblock (sidewall of driversside storage compartment)
If the pump runs & the injectors aren't firing there's another problem.
Check the 2 30amp Inj1 & Inj2 fuses on the fusebox (lower left corner)
Check the module, if it doesn't give a cranking signal the engine will never run. This is easily diagnosed. If the pump runs for a couple of seconds when you turn the ignition to "on" the ECM will cut power to the relay so the pump doesn't run. If you start cranking the pump should come back on. If it doesn't do that there probably isn't a cranking signal.
