Rick started the vette last night, it was as loud as the Nova at the race track last weekend. Hopefully when he puts the exhaust on it things will be a little bit quieter. It was loud and a little rough; he hasn't set the timing yet and there was some issue with the camshaft and it being off by 180 so he fixed that (remember this is all my totally novice take on what he said).

He is not happy with the header gasket (we had ordered the wrong ones a bit ago so he grabbed one he had hanging around so we will have to buy the right ones and you all know what a pain it is getting the headers out) But it did start!

So this weekend I will clean the rug inside, he will finish painting the seats, put that pesty shifter boot in and do something with the old factory speakers in the back. Oh yah and more scrubbing underneath.

The car now has a name: Evetta :-)

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

Way to go!!!:beer:beer

Thanks! I can't wait for the next milesone - the first ride. I am just not sure I want to be in the car with the husband driving, I will probably lose my lunch! ;LOL

Congratulations!! And how lucky Rick is to have someone like you with which to spend all that time in the garage...wow! Most ladies hate it when their significant other spend too much time in the garage. :upthumbs

If you can, take a video with some audio of the new mill running. I'd love to listen to it- it sounds like a heck of a motor!

Congratulations!

When they run, they're worth all of the work.

I wish I knew where my old camcorder is, I will have to settle for the one in the digital camera. Well there is a noise so the fan has come out, the radiator drained and I think its the ac compressor and the alternator that have to come out and the timing cover off. Not sure how much further he has to go to solve the mystery. I didn't hear the noise I was about 10 ft away - that thing is a scary loud beast! LOL.

I feel bad that he has to pull this stuff off. I wonder how many times he has thought that he would rather be working on his '68 Firebird instead of my vette.

Tonight he pulled the gas tank off my sons 1960 olds and I swear if that gas tank doesn't has some kind of leak and he ran out of gas (AGAIN - which would have been 2 times in one week) I am going to ....well use your imagination.

I'll keep ya posted and once Rick solves the noise mystery I will videotape the next start up. I'll do one without the exhaust on it and one later on with it on.
