The Soon to be rebuilt 400ci sbc. The color will be changed.

Scott,

I did everything I could to my car without removing the body off the carriage. What was the most difficult part you encountered for removing the body? I have always wondered how much cable/wire disconnecting/cutting/stretching is required to remove the body!!...??

Someday, I'll venture that far...:L...Good Job!

Actually the worst part was getting up the balls to just do it. Other than that it's all about gettint as much stuff off the car as you can especially the headlights they are real heavy and tend to warp the nose if they are left in.

Where in Florida are you?
Would really dig to see this state of project up close...

I am in Boca Raton

While you're playing with the 400 block verify a couple of things before you install it.
If you have power steering be sure that the holes in the block for the mount are drilled and tapped.
Be sure that you remove the plug for the oil pressure sender if your engine has a plug before you install the block.
Ask me how I gained this insight.:mad

Looks like you are well on your way. Good luck with the project. This is one I don't think I would like to tackle just yet. Maybe one of these days a body off may happen for me. Just gotta get the balls.

Banana: I am in east Orlando, Right by the University of Central Florida

1979toy: The engine came out of a 1979 van so I am almost positive it would have had power steering. But thanks for the advice, I should get to the engine in a few months.

I just ordered a SCAT stroker crank and the rods and pistons are not far behind.

Everyone Else: Thanks for the posts, I am very pleased with how the project is going and I will post more pistures as i get the frame down to bare metal. ( I got alot of angle grinder time ahead of me )

Tom

The plan for the frame is Por 15

And thanks for the encouragement 67 heaven looking very nice

Tom

With the POR15 you don't have to grind to bare metal. Take a wire brush and get the loose stuff of, degrease and then apply the Metal Ready. This creates a chemical reaction with the rust and makes it ready to accept the POR15. Their website actually says that the paint will bond better with a rusty surface prepared with the Metal Ready than on bare metal.

Thats what i meant, I am using a wire cup brush to get rid of the loose rust on the surface and will then pant. Its still gonna take a while though.
