We have been at it for the past 6 month and we have finally decided to sell our Vette, financial priorities have been set and something has to go.

I actually feel sad, personally because I feel we are seeking financial gain from a "friend".

Gracie, my wife, bought the vette when we started dating so "she" grew up with us. She was or "Just married" car.

We are looking to buy a house being its our next step as 'adults'. Maybe it's me but recently I seem to feel she knows she is going. I know most of you may understand what I mean.

classifieds--I feel ashamed

Life happens....

...I'm sure you will regret selling your vette, but it is for a good cause...and I'm also sure that your vette has given you the "Corvette Fever", so another one will surely be in your future when finances allow!
I hope you get a good price, and that her new owner will take excellent care of her. In any event, know that by selling her, she will be fulfilling the dream of another enthusiast.

Widewhites,

Don't feel ashamed...those of us who are "real" Corvette lovers know just how you're feeling!! Alan and I name our Corvettes and feel like they're really members of our family. We screen buyers when we decide to move to another level of Corvetting, and none of our beloved Corvettes go to just anyone!! We just want them to go to homes and new owners who enjoy them as much as we have. Don't worry...you'll be back in the Corvette world before you know it!!

Thanks, actually a '74 convertable clouds our minds once and a while. That was my wifes first choice when we got our current vette. The guy wanted way too much for it, then she, or we fell in love with our current .

HHmm, the fever is there for sure........

A house would be nice though first.

I feel your pain. They are part of the family and hard to let go but as others have said you'll be back in a 74 vertte before you know it. Oh, by the way. If you think finding the right vette was tough wait till you start looking at houses:L

Take care,
Carlo

House hunting...

...is not so bad.

We bought the first one we saw with a Century21 agent 2 years ago.
Sat. We flew out to GA, landing late in the evening.
Sun. Had a tour of the plant and dinner w/ plant manager.
Mon. Agreed to take the job. Looked at houses.
Tues. Looked at houses w/ different realtor and bought the first one we saw.
Wed. Financing.
Thurs. Flew home. (WA)
Fri. Gave notice and started packing.
Less than 3 weeks later we were packed, moved and living in GA.

I'd recommend finding a good real estate agent, one who knows what you are looking for and won't try to pull you into buying something you really don't need.
We also spoke with the Sheriff of the county we were moving to, in order to find out about crime, growth and how the city/county was laid out and what future plans were.

Know what you require of a home.
Schools?
Neighbors/neighborhood?
Access to fwys?
Grocery shopping?
Large/small yard, or property?
How large/small house and number/designation of rooms?

Happy house hunting!
Heidi

There is a time for everything. I had a new '73 thirty years ago (which I kept for 2 years until my starter house came along). The starter house was followed by my dream house...then the dream house was finally paid off.
I just recently bought a low-mileage C4 and I am back in the game again...you will be too.

YOU ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING!...AND YOU WILL BE BACK HERE AGAIN LIKE MYSELF.

Good luck,
Safety

At least you are doing something good for your family. You can buy another one down the road of life. Good luck on your house search.

i dont know if i should feel sorry or happy for you, you are losing a vette but gaining a house.

i guess a house is more important though, so good luck finding one, and hopefully you will have that 74 you want.

I bought a 1971 LT-1 way back in 1990 ( I was just 21 ), very soon after my wife became pregnant with our first child. I kind of panicked, so I sold it to reduce bills. I have regretted selling it ever since. I still get a sickening feeling in the pit of my gut when I see old pictures of it and other LT-1's at car shows. In retrospect, I could have kept it. I wish I had. Currently I am without a Vette although I am going to start on a 1966 Chevelle with a 396/375 horse Big Block. Still, I really miss that old Vette, even after all of these years.

Don't worry-
You'll get the house and someday you'll get another vette. I had the house and vette. I sold my 80 in 84(it was paid for) to get the money for a ring and to pay for a wedding. Got a wonderful wife and a great son. However, she has never understood the love of the corvette. She did understand though that I did miss owning a vette, so last August at her suggestion I bought a 93:D You're way ahead of the game your wife is into corvettes, so I'm sure you won't have to wait 18 years to get another one. Although the wait was worth it. Good luck with the house.
