read previous that some people have bought bmw jack pucks to carry with them in the event the car must be jacked. can someone explain this. Would this be a emergency situation on the road that the car must be jacked and not at a gm dealership. What would be the application for this and anybody think this is a good idea. And why bmw, does corvette not have thier own, Thanks

It comes in handy if you use a floor jack to remove one wheel and also if you are at a non-GM shop and it needs to be lifted.

I can't think of a roadside emergency situation, unless you had a flat, somehow managed to have a spare tire along (what, strapped to the roof?) and were going to change it yourself. I don't think so.

I think I would be calling GM roadside assistance and not try jacking it up on the side of the road.

They could be useful for DIY things in your garage though.

my freind,

the key word here is emergency. if you knew why you would need something..... it wouldn't be an emergency. strange things have happened, mine are in the trunk! and i hope they stay there in the bag! p.s bmw pucks are $7+-ea., try to find corvette pucks for $7.

I carry a set of Elite Engineering's pucks in the car just in case I should have to have it on an adjustable arm rack which must touch the frame. In the shop, I use the MidAmerica jack insert in the floor jack to lift one side, or pop the jack cradle back in to lift at the crossmembers. All very handy.

You don't need any stinkin pucks:L ...just get rocker rails by A&A Corvette Specialties and you can jack the Vette anywhere along the sides.....they are simple to install...and they save the rockers from getting damaged... phooey on pucks....:L

Go here and look at frame savers and rocker rails...a must for a C5...
