Jump Starting

My friend tried to Jump start his 85 by hooking up the jumper cables straight to the battery terminals, now I think he blew a fuse or something because the car doesn't have any power at all. We tried with another battery but no juice is going to the system.Any ideas of what may be wrong. Please help. Thank you.

A while back one of my good friends blew the ECM by jumping the car. It was also an '85. I try to avoid jumper cables whenever possible. I know sometimes there aren't ways around it though. A battery charger is much safer.
