We can't begin to imagine just how much it would mean to NASCAR to have Dale Earnhardt Jr. be relevant again. For CEO Brian France, who has called Junior "the franchise," it's a marketing dream, the sport's equivalent to when the Lakers and Celtics renewed their historic rivalry in the 2008 NBA Finals. The Crown Prince of NASCAR, he of the No. 4 ranking in Forbes' list of sports' biggest earners, being a force on the track instead of just the Most Popular Driver voting (he's won seven straight) leads to bigger attendance, high TV ratings, and ultimately, more advertising dollars.

I owned and tried to drive a late model stock car in the late 70's and I sure couldn't do it!

Interesting comment in light of statements you've made about Danica Patrick's driving skills.

When you say you "couldn't do it", can you be more specific? Do you consider your LMS skills better or worse than those of Ms. Patrick?

Oh...am I stirring the pot?
But of course.:chuckle

I was glad to see Jamie win !! ......off the topic, does anyone else see a resemblace here:;LOL:rotfl:boogie:chuckle
I don't care for him or his brother. I think their both a couple of high nosed kids who need the crap punched out of' em!!!!! JMHO!!!!

it's a good thing for them that they run in a high-profile Series like Cup, where drivers must be PC, because if they acted that-way at almost any short-track or drag-strip nationwide, they'd get folded & stuffed into a garbage barrel

You really shouldn't hold back Bill! Tell us how you really feel!;LOL
I REALLY would have liked to have seen Kurt Busch and Jimmy Spencer go out behind the garage for a round or 2...When they were having there feud a few years back....You KNOW Spencer would have handed him his ASS!!!!!!!

Is he really doing anything that you or I couldnt do, if given the chance????

Yes

Sorry to bust your dream, but there's a reason he's won as many races as he has, as much as I can't stand him he's got an amazing talent for driving a race car. No matter how good of a driver someone might be on the road, you get on a track with a professional and they'll make you look like a kid trying to figure out how to drive for the first time in your life. Been there, done that, bent up and twisted plenty of sheet metal...have the fireproof jacket instead of the T-shirt.:L

For what corvette's are capable of doing, I wish everyone that has one could manage to take a driving course to really teach them how to drive.

As for the Daytona 500 this year...did I miss a rule change? Twice at Daytona, once during the 500 and I forget if the other one was the truck race or the Nationwide series, there was a wreck going on, on the last lap, and the leaders got to race back to the flag. I think both cases nascar simply stalled on waving the yellow flag until after the leader crossed the finish line, but was this a rule change or is nascar still just playing god with their own rule book and pretty much just doing whatever they feel like doing. During the race for safety purposes I can totally agree with not racing back to the flagstand, on the white flag lap I think they should take a common short track approach to it, leave the green light on, let them race back to the flag, flash the yellow to alert everyone there's a problem on the track somewhere...although most if not all the drivers probably know from their spotters that there's trouble before the yellow light comes on anyways.
