Hi Larry,
Thanks for sharing the photos. All great shots. Very nice group shot of you guys in front of your car. Your kids really seem to be enjoying the car also.

Hi! Larry

Thanks for the pictures; I was on a mission to find parts for the 63 this year and did not get a chance to meet all the CAC members that were at Carlisle. I hope to correct that next year and look forward to meeting you.

Larry -- It was great to finally meet you and the family this year. What's this about a new Z06 ???????? Only Kidding -- good luck.

John I always look at the L88's and think how luckey the guy was who could go into a showroom in the sixties and purchase a real race car.

Well now is my chance with the Z06.

I have the opertunity to order a car with a dealer I purchase all of my chevrolets from with a proposed delivery time of april 2006. I also promised my self next new vette I purchased would be a museum delivery.

Originally when I purchased our C5 I always said this car I will keep forever. All it cost me now is the insurance,But with limited storage space i think it will have to go.

The hardest thing to get over is the cost of the car with the understanding that as soon as I take ownership of it the price starts to plumit, And also the Big loss I will be taking on the C5,

We have a saying at the craps table that as long as you have some chips and your still in the game your not considered a loser. But as soon as your at the cashers window cashing out its a different story.

So with my current C5 I am still in the game but as soon as I sell it thats when I will realize my loss on it.

My wife is wonderfull and very understanding with this idea, but she is insisting some thing has to go before we get anything else. if I am luckey I will come to my sences

Nice Shots

I always like looking at the Carlisle and Cruisefest shots, helps me remember the great people and great times we have. Did you make the change to your coil mount yet? I "should" be back on the road by the middle of the week with everything I wanted to change completed.

Nope not yet,I am still waiting for that Barry Grant tri power to come in. At that point I will stand it up and I am also hoping to install a reproduction 66 Big Block ignition sheilding on it and a 67 triangle air cleaner.

Yup I am making a photo album of the folks I met at carlilse and plan on having it with me at the cruise fest next year as long as every body else is going.

Good luck with your car, you now have to be more carefull with it ,understanding it may be the newest C1 on the road

Larry, change C5 to '66 Coupe and I could have written this! I'm having a little trouble pulling the trigger but your thinking and mine are much alike. I'm not sure I need two "old" Vettes. The '60 would do just fine giving me a nostalgia kick. That Z06 is calling me! And to think it could be here before next cruising season is the icing on the cake. Go for it! :upthumbs

This is one of those weak moments when if someone made me a serious, fair offer for my '66 it would be gone in a heartbeat. :D

More Careful?

Something to think about, especially when I'm :lou

Nice pic's any more pics????

When I saw our pictures there, I called Sharon over to see......she didnt even remember you taking a picture.....we were glad to see you and some of the other guys at Carlisle.....I am leaning more and more to pulling the body off the '60 and doing this from the frame up......I am afraid that if I try to short cut some of the work, in the end I will not be happy and I want a really crisp look.....so, that means doing it right, right from the beginning....haven't made that final decision, but sure am leaning that way........

Nice pics Larry! Like Lou I enjoy seeing any pics from Carlisle or BG as they instantly bring a smile and great memories. I hope everyone gets a taste of how enjoyable these trips were and how much fun our CAC group is. Cruisefest 2006 will be great and I look forward to meeting even more of the members at Carlisle next year. Thanks again to all of you for making this a summer I'll never forget, you really are a fantastic group of friends!:upthumbs

Well Ill tell you what I have been told (or rather have read quite often by other vette guys)

If you dont need to pull well set vette off of a frame then dont,

My thoughts, I did not go body off on my 66, and have regreted it,

If I had to do it all again, I would have NO fears of going body off.But it depends on what your ultimate goal is. My 66 is being rebuilt with the ultimate goal of NCRS flight judging.

I know plenty of well meaning folks who start a body off and have the car sitting in peices because they lost momentum or just ran out of time or money. As you have heard it before use caution because its a slippery slope and you end up with a car thats cost more to build then what its value is.

Looks like a "for real" 1968 SS427. Note the special gills on the fender behind the wheel. Note the SS427 badge in the grill. I'll bet there's a special hood on that car too. Different from the '67 SS427 hood, but also different from all other '68 full-sized Chevrolet hoods as well.

He's using '67 rally centres....not that there's anything wrong with that. ;)

Got any more photos of this car?

Nice find, Larry. Thanks.

EDIT: Here's what the hood should look like. ;)

Decklid should look like this. ;)

Don't sell anything just buy the new one and hide the 66 if necessary ;). Any time I sold anything I have lived to regret it and I vowed not to sell anything anymore! :eyerole

my biggest fear.....

Sorry Bob no ther pictures of this car. And I did not get a good look at the hood or the trunk lid.

What made me notice this car was that it had giant 1/4 panels on it and it was lazer straight.
