I have a couple holes in one muffler, so I figured I'd replace both with stainless units. I heard a lot of good things about Dynomax, so I did some searching for a good price. Local (store) price was around $250/each, which I though was ridiculous, so I went to the Internet.
I found , who had the same mufflers for $160/each. So, a bit over a week ago I order the pair (online) on Saturday and specified 3-day shipping, then call them that Monday to verify the shipping and arrival dates. They say 'those weren't in stock, so we had them drop-shipped directly from Walker - 2-day Blue Label'. Great, thinks I, they will be here in plenty of time.
Well, sure enough, the packages arrive on Wednesday, and are waiting for me when I get home that evening. Looking at the boxes, and then inspecting the contents, it seems apparent that UPS did more dropping than shipping in this particular drop shipment (major dents, including one that looks vaguely like someone took a hammer to the box and muffler). So, I call A-1 early next morning (Thursday), they take my information and phone number, and promise to call back. Within an hour, I get a phone call: 'no problem, we sent two more, and we will have UPS pick up the other two - the replacements will be there by Monday or Tuesday.' I was impressed, because most businesses won't ship replacements until they have the originals back, or they want to charge you for the replacements, and then refund it when the originals are returned - none of that nonsense here.
I was out Friday buying some supplies (oil, oil filter, PCV valve, etc.), and when I get back, there are two more boxes waiting for me from Walker, marked 'Next Day Air'. Boxes look good; contents look good. The UPS guy picked up the old mufflers yesterday. Hopefully, the mufflers will get on the car this Friday.
So, if you bothered to read the whole story, the moral is, A-1 really seems to be a stand-up operation, and their prices were nice, too... Just a plug for some people who really went above the average in service.
