Hi

my '65 is Milano Maroon. No matter where I go with the car I get asked about and complimented on that color. Even most Vette owners I run into at shows, cruises, etc ask me about it saying they have never seen that color before. I've actually only run into one person around here that has seen the color before and he had a '65 vert with the Milano Maroon. Than again, thru the years he has had about 44 Vettes at last count so I'm sure he has probably had every color imaginable by now.

I know a few people on this forum also have this color car but I was wondering if this was considered a more "rare" color?
I sure don't expect my car to be worth more because of color but was just curious because of the attention and comments I get about the Maroon even when i'm parked in a group of other C2's.

like the link that Sky65 posted says, 2831 Milano Maroon vettes produced in 65, plus the 3799 MMs in 66 (add in the 3464 Marlborough Maroons in 67 while you are at it), I guess we MM types aren't so rare after all . . .;)

maybe not so rare afterall but nobody seems to have ever seen the color before - at least around here

Actually maroon '65-'67s are fairly common around this part of the country. I almost bought a maroon '65 at one time. Probably would have if it had not been a powerglide. It could very well be more of a regional thing. Some colors seem to be more popular in certain parts of the country, or at least they were when new. I was looking at a marroon with maroon leather on one of the dealer sites the other day. I could really get into one like that.

Hi Tom
I suppose you could be right about it being a regional popularity thing. Different parts of the country tend to have different trends.

When I was looking for a car, the exterior color was secondary to me. I knew I prefered a black leather interior but wasn't as driven to find and particular exterior color although I do prefer some over others. The car I eventually found just happened to be this Maroon one and I loved the color as soon as i saw it in person.
On the other hand, it took my friend 4 years to find his car because he was so picky about everything including the color. He knew he wanted a Glen Green w/ black interior only. It was the only color combo he would consider plus he wanted the 327/350 motor and it had to be in great shape and numbers matching.
The funny thing is he found the exact car he wanted locally after 2 years of looking but lost the deal to buy it. he kept looking another 2 years and than saw an ad for the same car 2 years later and finally bought it. by than it had gone thru 2 owners. He first saw it in Maryland, than it went out to Mershons who sold it to a customer who brought it back to Maryland and that's who my friend bought it from. the '65 Glen Green vert of his is his 5th or 6th Vette and he hadn't seen the Maroon either until he went with me to look at mine prior to purchasing it.

The attention the color gets from other Vette owners, especially other C2 owners is also great!
:)
