'82 Silver/Green Top Flight
After a long flight from OKC to Manchester, NH, then a 1,740 mile drive in 2 1/2 days I finally have my silver/green Top Flight '82 sitting in my garage. Many of you are familiar with this car as it belonged to Guy Wright. I have wanted an '82 for some time and when I saw this one, with it's unique color combination, low miles and incredible condition, I knew I had to have it.

The drive back was fun and we really enjoyed the scenery. And going through eleven states allowed us to see plenty of it (my favorite was the mountains of PA - We loved going through the tunnels) My butt was ready to get out of that seat, but I'd do it again if I had the chance. As a matter of fact, I do, because we will be in Carlisle in August - showing this car off (and parking right next to Remo!).

It is GREAT to finally own a Vette, and especially one this nice. It's a serious head turner...

Take care of that new vette now -

Big Tex, I would love to see you new machine, I am just south of you in Norman, lets find some time to see each others car's. Mine is a 76 orginal in pretty good shape, I would love to go have a beer or something and see your car. Let me know. Paul in Norman

Marc,

It was great to meet you and Joan and again, it's too bad your visit had to be so short. Glad you like the car and had an uneventful trip. If you are bringing the sg82 to Carlisle, don't forget to register: http://www.carsatcarlisle.com/

I hope this car brings you miles of smiles - it did for me.

Yeah I was going to repaint my 81 to look exactly like an 82 collectors :/

Congratulations on your gorgeous, gorgeous car!! And such a great trip - may you have many more..you will really enjoy that car ...I know...

Yea!

Congrats! I'm glad you enjoyed the trip. Now you need to take a trip to the auto store to purchase 'special care' products for your new baby.
Maybe you could just have a Corvette Shower instead? :D Would any of your family or friends understand?...or are we at CAC the only ones that understand this condition?

Excellent choice Tex !
I've seen SG when Guy had her at last years Carlisle and it is a beaut..
Good it stays 'in the family' !
Good luck with it..

congrats on the 'new'82...hope you enjoy it.bill...STW:w

Tex,

I know that silver/green '82 as I know Guy very well and see him often. I was so against Guy selling it...but, luckily for you, he didn't listen to me and many others who felt he should never get rid of it!!:( I am happy, though, to learn that it has gone to a good home and to people who appreciate it. Look forward to seeing it again and meeting you in Carlisle!

I really appreciate all of the kind words from the people on this board. I'm on cloud 9 about this car and I'm glad Guy didn't listen to you about not selling it. CAC is kind of like a family - at least all of our "children" are related! And driving that car is great. I just LOVE the looks it gets!

Thanks, and it is exactly what I wanted. She will have a very good home here as long as I can keep the tornados away.

Thanks. You will see it again at Carlisle this year, too. Remo is saving me a parking spot...

I'm ahead of you. I already got wax and cleaners. Tire dressing, leather conditioner. All of that stuff. She is already looking good now that I have bugs from eleven states washed off. Maybe she will get the wax on Saturday.

Big Tex, why not bring your new baby down to Waco, TX for the NCRS Texas Regional 4-6 November. It is a great show and you could have it flight judged or just sportsman. It should be a great show this year as it is the chapter's 25th anniversary and Wendell Strode from the Corvette Museum will be the guest speaker. I saw the Vette in St Louis last year and it is a beauty. Congrats.

Tex,

I guess it would be too much to ask if you would show-up at the Cruise-Fest?? 1,750 miles is nothing to sneeze at, and you probably would like to keep the accumulated milage low (kind of hard to do with such a nice Vette..:_rock ).

Anyway, congratulations and I know how big your grinning is

Cruise-fest would be nice but I don't have the time it would take to make the drive, etc. My butt is just now getting the feeling back in it from the trip back from Guy's.

I am going to the NCRS regional in Waco in November and to a show/rally in Eureka Springs, AR - I think in October. There is also a Vette show in OKC that I am going to next weekend. We put more miles on that car in 3 days than it averaged every year over it's life! Scary...

Thanks for the offer, though. I know you guys will have a blast.

I'll be there - count on it. I'd like to get some more info about it. Location, times, etc.

The Waco Regional will run from 4 to 6 November. It is held in the Waco Convention Center which is only about 2 miles west of I-35. All the cars will be in doors. The Operations Checks will start about noon on Thursday the 4th and run until 5:30PM, so you just have to check in sometime on Thursday during that window. Thursday evening we'll have a free pizza get together. Judging will start at 8AM on Friday and Saturday. Friday evening there is a BBQ and Saturday a Fajita banquet. Wendell Strode from the NCM will be the guest speaker. The host hotel is the Marriott across the street and the Hilton is also adjacent to the convention center. There are other hotels in walking distance also. You can find registration and schedule info at www.ncrstexas.org. Hope to see you there.
