Just got my new Engine

Well, I got tired of looking in the junkyard today so i decided to pick up an issue of the local bargan trader at the 7 eleven after a long hot dirty day. Low and behold there was an add for a complete running chevy 400 small block for $400. I called him and offered him $350 cash for immediate pickup.

Well 3 hours later there is a pretty much bone stock 400 4 bolt in my garage. I took some pictures but i am fighting with my digital camera, so I hope to have a few pics up soon.

What are your plans for the build up?

SCAT cast crank forged if I can find a good deal. Forged 6 inch rods and hyper pistons or forged if i can find a good deal. I'm copying a build up of a 383 in a chevy book I have. I'm not sure if i'm going with iron or aluminum heads. I'm leaning towrds iron just to save some cash. I should still be able to have a good shot at over 400hp and and alot of torque down low on pump gas.

Very cool. I wish I could find a running 400. The only 400's that are in the classifieds around here are bare blocks.
