Just need a discontinued bolt!!

Where can I find the lower a/c compressor and bracket bolt?
Discontinued by GM/ Previous owner broke head, so I had to
take a die grinder and cut bolt to get out....
I think it should have a rounded torx head to clear the clutch...
any suggestions...tried several places, no luck...none I can find
in junk yards, etc.
will prob have to go to machine shop and let them make, but
decided to try here...

Sorry man, can't help you in your search for a bolt, but I just had to comment on the bolt/bracket issue itself; it seems to be a common problem on those year Vettes I guess. Mine is an '87 as well, and I had a problem with that bolt, and a friend in my local club had a problem with that bracket.

Good luck in finding an appropriate fastener.

I had that bolt break on my car also. Couldn't get a replacement bolt either, so I went and found a Grade 8 fastener that fit at an auto parts store. You will probably have to go to several places and might be better going to a place that sells fasteners only. Also, don't use a thick washer under the head and it should fit OK.

You might have luck from a Corvette recycler. I've bought stuff from Jason at vette2vette@hotmail.com (www.vette2vette.com, I think). He's not always the fastest-responding person, but his stuff is quality and if he makes a mistake he makes it right.

I had a problem with a bolt on the manifold. I ordered a few parts from a vette junk yard and they gave me a couple. What I have is a rounded torx head bolt used on the 85 manifold, but I need to verify if I still have it. Maybe we can work a deal, a swap of nickel and dime parts.
