Hi all,
This may only pertain to those of us in the warmer climates, but does any one just leave their AC on all the time? Besides keeing the engine temps between 196 and 208, I also enjoy the cooler air, even with the top down.
Just curious, something I never see a thread on.
Regards all,
Jeff

AirCond?
I only turn mine on when the Wife is in the car, if I'am in traffic I turn on the defrosters. I like to hear the exhaust and I live in Arizona.

Hi Jeff!

As I live in hot and humid South Mississippi, I pretty much run my AC year round too. I just leave it in auto and use the temp setting to keep it at a comfortable level. On the few mornings out of the year when the temp dips near or below freezing, I use the defroster, then when the car warms up, I set it back in auto.

I think that you can have the secondary fans programmed to come on at a lower temperature, or you can have a manual switch installed. If the goal is to keep the engine cooler, that is an option. But if you just like the interior cool anyway, go for it. I do not know what that costs in fuel economy, but I suspect it is not that much.

I run it all the time, and on the last 800+ mile trip I took I still got 28.7 mpg. I have heard that some people have concerns about leaving it on when you shut down and that you should only turn it on after you've started the car, but I've never seen any real evidence to warrant such craziness. Parts will wear out, it's inevitable.

Good thread.

When the top is down, the AC is usually off - exception: during parades, then the AC is on auto for all the reasons mentioned here.
Top up, AC is on auto.
