I have a '97 vette and the key fob transmitters will not stay matched to the vehicle. I go through the training mode and the fobs will work until I go out of range, they will not work again until I go through the training procedure again. Of course as soon as I get out of range they become unmatched again. Anyone else have this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

I have new batteries in the fobs, that doesn't seem to be the problem.

Get out the manual & make sure there's not one last specific step (button to push - whatever) that you are missing. When I programmed mine I didn't do it right the first time. Also you need to get the first programmed one out of range b4 you do the second.

Im having the same problem in my 97. Started last week. I can program and open and close the doors a million times. Once I walk away it looses the programing. I think it might be the module thats behind the drivers on the side. The reason i think this is because my tirepressure sensors arent working also and on the 97 that module controls both things. Let me know if you figure it out before i do. Thanks

I found this. Going to try it later. I was doing all the steps except for the last two.
(1) Key to on position
(2) Option button cycle thru till blank
(3) Hold reset button
(4)Display will read "FOB training"
(5)Hold lock and unlock buttons on fob
(6) horn beeps fob learned
(7) Exit car shut door
(8) lock and unlock together - horn beeps. Done.

Folks,
I had the same problem several months ago. I changed the battery twice and still it would work once and quit. It required me to get a new key fob. The problem has magically disappeared.
You can get a new on on-line for about $55. They are $125.00 at the dealership.

Since both FOB's are doing the same thing I wouldn't think it is the FOB

I tried all of the steps including 7 and 8 still have the same problem.

I tried it also. No go.. I only have 1 keyfob though. Let me know if you have any other suggestions.. If not I will try buying another fob but you have a good point since you have two and its doing the same thing. Maybe we should disconnect the battery and reprogram.. Sorry im in the computer industry turning stuff off the on usually works.. jk

Hi there,
There have been concerns of a few different problems with the transmitters on c5. This would also include the tire pressure warning systems, as noted in other posts here, are all controlled by the same system.
Now, if you are finding that the fobs are not staying consistant, and you do NOT have reliable tire pressure readings, the most consistant problem has been the receiver not remembering the calibrations of the frequencies.
If you only have one transmitter that is giving you a problem, then I would lean toward a transmitter.
As for the rest, were there any codes in the RFA, other than the normal 1096, 1064, 1016?????
