L-48 Hood Emblems

I am about to get my pile of parts painted and one of the parts suppliers says the L-48 emblems on my hood were not used at the factory. My assembly manual doesn't show them either. Does anyone know for sure if they came on it from the factory?

L-48 emblems were never used on the Vette, only the L-82 (or 454 in earlier Vettes). In fact the L82 emblems were not used in 73 or 74. Only hood emblems then was for the 454. Appears that only the highest power options got the hood emblems.

According to my sources, there were never L48 emblems. I think L82 emblems were not available on early 1975's either.

none here either.....corvette america sells them for 73 and 74....i guess they would look ok on the rise of the hood.

How do emblems go on cars? Do they just have a really sticky side so that it kind of becomes a permanent stick to the car? I guess that would be tough, because you would have to make it perfectly aligned. Or is there other ways?

I've never seen L-48 emblems either, however Zip Products has them listed in their catalog but doesn't show a picture of them. Perhaps it's just some aftermarket goodie.

I've got them on my hood. I never paid them much attention, but it looks like they are glued on. It doesn't bother me one way or the other about having them.

L-48 hood emblems are quite common -- as aftermarket items. I guess whoever put them on their cars in the first place figured they looked good, so what the heck?

Thanks for all the answers. With all the other things that have to be done before you paint not buying a part that doesn't belong helps the budget.

There are screwed on. I think the L-82 has 4 lugs each.

I pretty sure that Bubba used silicon or something similiar on mine! It's a little bit of a frankenvette.
