Got myself a 77 with the l-48 SB. Recently got the heads rebuilt, put a new water pump on, painted the engine and got myself hooker side pipes.

How could I get some more power out of this engine. I was thinking of getting a edelbrock manifold. And the changing the cam. But what kind of cam should I get.

Anybody got any tricks or tips for me about this....MORE POWER PLEASE 180 is embarrasing.

I started out with an L48..... now I have an L98!

I have around ~300hp from a lightly warmed over LM1 Goodwrench long block with TPI and some specific tuning.

There is alot you can do for less than what I spent. A lot less. Vortec heads, cams, carbs, and such.

Yes, L-48 badly needs more cam! For cam you need to state trans. & rear gears. Moroso makes spiral low restriction mufflers for sidepipes.

My 77 is an automatic and I believe it has 3.08 in the rear. I think whatever comes with it stock.

What kind of power would the engine gain from changing the cam and manifold.

Heard that some people got these engines up to 350 hp easily.

Thats about the power range im looking for. But doing it slowly step by step.

Comp Cams HE260H or XE256 esp. if you do not have low restriction mufflers in the sidepipes. Over 300. 350 is no problem however you would probably want higher stall/lower gears for more cam. You can run higher ratio roller tip rockers. Intake for your Q-J, Weiand Action+ or Performer 2101.
Then do heads & about 350.
