There are several unique things about the 1981 Corvette, but that isn't the reason for the l-81 club. Many "Registries" exist for specific year Corvettes. We just happen to be a very ACTIVE Registry... The L81 Vette Registryhttp://www.l81vetteregistry.comhttp://www.l81vetteregistry.com was conceived to document the 1981 Corvette, collect and setup an informational data base, provide a presence in the Corvette Community of their existence and have an organization that owners of a 1981 Corvette can be Proud of and want to belong.

Here in the "Portal" you'll find several Registry type Corvette sites, I didn't see one for 1979, I have a seperate listing also of Registries, and my list doesn't reflect one for 79, but my list is over a year old. Here is a Registry for the 1977 Corvette

The L81 Vette Registry has 247 members. Our last website re-design included a Registration Form to provide our members with more information about their cars and to provide the Registry more information to include in our data base. Our association with CACC has evolved over the last couple of years to the point that we now have a forum here at CACC.

The 1981 Corvette is special to the owners, just like your 1979 is to you, we just decided to give our car a place to call home, povide support for each other, and support the Corvette Community. Hopefully the L81 Vette Registry will become The Historical Repository of the 1981 Corvette ;)

Edit: Tony here is a "Registry" for the 1978

I believe that the L-81 is 190 HP.
I'm the original owner of an L-81 4 spd. and I'm still in love with the car. I went to a Christmas party last night and had the choice of driving my 81 or my 02 vert 6spd. The 81 won out! Each generation has a different feel to driving them. My 81 feels like a sport car(Gymkana suspension)sp? My ZR1 was extremely hard to get in and out of the seats and you sat VERY low. My C5 is a combination of comfort and driveability, but as far as I'm concerned "one of the most beautiful Vettes ever designed". Yes we are very lucky to have someone start an L-81 Registry so we can find put more about our cars. Why don't you start one for yours? I'm sure it is a lot of work, but you would definetly get help from other owners.
