Help! L98 will not stay running

1989 c4 to c5 conversion
I have a 1989 l98. The car was running perfect cut it off and it would not start back. when the car cooled off it starts back up and runs good for about 10min. I replaced the fuel pump and filter getting good lbs on the fuel rail. I did a major tune up. I also jumped the fuel pump and let it run while trying to start still nothing. If I hit it with starter fluid it starts up and runs really bad for about 5min. will not start when hot without starter fluid any ideals. Sorry it has taken me so long to reply just have not had time to work on my baby. I have checked all the injectors most read about 16 to 20 ohm when cold. When I get the car warmed up I have 2 that read 8ohm and one that reads 6ohms the rest stay about the same. would this cause my problem.
 
Injectors? Disconnect and measure the resistance on each injector. Post the results.

if an injector is getting marginal ( read short or low resistance ) the ECU will current limit.

There is a white " module " in the tank between the fuel pump that is an RF filter which has a tendancy to open up when " old "...
Verify fuel pressure when hot.. there is a schrader valve for ease of hook up...

Also verify your FPR has not blow it's diaphram... pull the vac line and make sure fuel isn't gushing out.

On my 88, the ignition P/U module would fail every 6 months or so... due to an after market coil in the HEI...

My 1989 coupe did the same thing 2 years ago. I found that the #7 fuel injector would short when hot. I got new injectors from Fuel Injection Connection and my car runs like new.

Thanks everyone I have a great starting point now. I dont feel like I am just throwing money in the dark hoping to get lucky. I will report my findings as soon as I get back in the garage. I have been trying to figure this out since thursday. she is my summer toy and when I pulled her out thursday this is what I got. But I love every minute of it. Just need to pay the wife a little attention lol.
 
One other thing to check is the TPS. The ECM reads the input from the TPS and uses that as one of the parameters to feed fuel to the injectors. Also check all the wires and connectors to be sure that you don't have a broken wire from a sensor. If you have been removing unplugging wires and reconnecting them be aware they will brake easily because of age. Also I have found that the wires for the TPS injectors etc only have 3 small wires in them again easily broken.

Those are out of spec and can cause ECM to stop pulsing the injectors (allow fuel to flow). Ohm's law applies here because they are bank fired together (left and right sides) and as the resistance drops more current flows to the ECM. The ECM is designed to protect itself. If the injectors aren't pulsed, then it avoids getting to much current. Check out the company FIC and the BOSCH III injectors. Both are highly recommended. I've used these injectors on both my 1988 and 1989.
 
Just disconnect the 2 injectors that have low resistance and it should keep running. My 1989 did the same thing the # 7 injector would short (4 ohms) when hot and it would shut down. I got new injectors from FIC and now my car runs like new!!!!

Wow!!!!! Thanks guys thats my problem. I Unhooked bad injectors and she is running as well as you would exspect a 5 cylinder vette to run Lol. But she runs and starts at the drop of a dime. Set of new injectors ordered. I love this web site.
