Say, is it just me and my aging back, or are these things really cleverly disguised medieval torture devices? I really like these last C3's--not least because a truly nice one can be had for relatively short money--but those backrests don't exactly encourage multi-hour stretches behind the wheel. Anybody have a remedy, short of not buying the car in the first place? Thanks!

Pilot....... I actually use a small square pillow that slides down between my back and the top part of the seat. It fills the void between my wide (and old) shoulders and the seat. The discomfort is especially worse if you have the 4" bolsters and not the 2". My original 2" bolsters (i.e. the distance between the top seam of the side bolster and the seat back) was never uncomfortable to ride in for any duration. Then I changed out my seats for new foam and leather and I outsmarted myself thinking the deeper seat backs would be better.
(NOT!!!!!) Try the pillow. Maybe 6-7" square and 1" thick and you can drive for hours pain free. I routinely take my '81 on 10-12 hr trips. Now of course I'm getting out a couple times a trip because at 18-20mpg (tops) you will be getting gas relatively often :D

Good Luck............... nut
