Several years ago my 45 year old OEM radio quit. But rather than getting it repaired (which is expensive) I chose to buy a NEW radio that was an exact duplicate of the frontal appearance of my OEM radio. It cost $550 but I felt the added expense was worth it because it's 1/3 the size and puts out twice as much power. This company makes replacement radios for every application you can think of so rather than getting your old 1970's technology radio repaired consider buying a NEW radio that has the latest solid state technology.

Yep, have one of these in my '69 vert. Nice radio but one needs to understand it's not a exactly a direct replacement for the original radio. The existing radio power harness doesn't plug in to the new radio, so you will need to either cut the original plug off and wire in the new radio harness (do I crimp or do I solder?) or use proper connectors to connect the new harness to the existing power plug. Then you have the speakers and their harness. The existing speakers are not compatable with the new radio. GM used 10 ohm speakers in the Corvette and the new radio requires 4 ohm speakers. The existing speaker harness doesn't plug into the new radio, so again, you can either cut the existing plugs off the harness or run new speaker wires to the new speakers you will be installing. One up side is that the new radio is shorter on the back end than the existing which does help with installing the new radio into the center dash cluster. You'll also probably want to fab a bracket to support the rear of the radio, as the stock support doesn't with the new radio. All minor items that will need to be addressed.

It's nice that you can plug in a MP3 player but I would have prefered a USB port on the back side.
