Nope, but someday.
Much has been made about the changes in the c6. Here are some not so known facts about the car.

Power convertible top

Convertible top/power has 4 hydraulic cylinders inside the top assembly. 2 more cylinders are for the rear tonneau. This top has its own control module, and will lower the windows when activated. If you loose the battery power, you can raise and lower the top manually, by opening a 6mm hex fitting to release hydraulic pressure. There is a 3/4 second delay from the time you press the switch, till the time the top starts to operate. This is for safety. Also, the top will NOT lower, if the luggage partition is NOT in place.
The new tops, manual and power are NOT retained with staples, like c5. They are held on by retainers, to ease installation and removal from the support frames.

ABS system

The new ABS system is a Delphi 7.2 system, which replaces the Bosch 5.3 that was equipped on c5. Faster reaction and better reliability, from what we are told.

Loss of battery power

If this happens, you will need to access the rear lock cylinder above the license plate to open the trunk, and pull the release cable for the drivers door. It is right next to the aux fuel door release, that many have known to c5. There are 2 additional release handles, next to each seat, for each door.
Window indexing, to avoid waterleaks and problems must be reset. Otherwise, the windows will NOT move when opening and closing the doors. The owner can reset the position to index the windows, by holding the up button on both windows for 5 seconds with the ignition on or ignition on and engine running. This tells the door control modules that the windows are completely up, and that is the top position.

Keyless ignition

On a manual equipped car, you can only shut off the engine in reverse. Automatics in park.
In order to start the car, you must depress the clutch in a manual, or the brake pedal on the automatic. It was believed that you needed the Ebrake on, but this is incorrect.

Cabin filter/HVAC features

There is a HEPA filter on c6. It is accessed by removing a panel from the engine compartment, just above the battery, attached at the firewall.
The new HVAC distribution box carries mode film technology. This is different from the older mode doors on c5. Very quiet operation and much more accurate and fast as far as mode changed.

Engine cooling

This is being mentioned, because there are changes to the cooling system that should be noted. When adding coolant to this engine. You will have a cold mark. If you were adding when the engine was hot, then add to the cold line, and add an additional 1 quart of mixture. There is NOT a hot full mark on this tank.
Also, the radiator fan is a single fan, not the dual fans of the c5. This fan is also controlled by a fan control module, NOT relays as in the c5. This yields multiple fan speeds and quieter operation. So dont expect to hear the fan alot, the speeds are independant and will only be as high as needed to cool the vehicle or the AC system.

XM radio antenna

On coupe, the antenna is black, and is mounted on the B bow at the top of the roof.
On convertible, the antenna is body colored and is mounted in the center of the rear deck.
There is NO option for a body colored antenna on the coupe.

Displays/Radio

You can differentiate between the 6 disc changer and the standard single disc cd player, by a mute button that is equipped on the single disc player. The 6 disc has a multiple disc icon on the button, so you can change discs.
Both systems are MP3 capable. However, do NOT install CDs that has adhesive labels on them. Simply write the titles on with a magic marker. The adhesive lables can be caught on the cleaner swipers at the entry to the CD player. These can then jam the player as the CD spins or is ejected.
The 'AIRBAG OFF' light is now an actual square display on the center console that says 'PASSAIRBAGOFF'

Manual transmission

Much of the improved shifting feel is due to major revisions in the T56. These improvments include roller detents and shifter rail supports. Also, ball detent stops for the shifting mechanism over the older friction wedge type. The syncronizer hubs have been widened and the tooth design is now stepped to ensure faster engagement and positive locking of the gear selection. The fluid pump for the T56 is driven off the counter shaft within the transmission on the Z51 option. This pumps fluid to the radiator mounted oil cooler at the radiator and to the differential oil cooler at the rear of the differential. This feature is ONLY available on Z51. Not on FE1 or F55. MZ6 is the actual RPO for the 6 speed transmission in Z51.
1/4 skip shift is still on the transmission as is reverse lockout. Both are controlled by the ECM. The manual transmission is NOT equipped with a TCM, or transmission control module.

Automatic transmission

This 4L65-E is mostly redesigned for the 05 model year. Improvments include a new torque converter design for better fluid shearing efficiency, 7 plate 3/4 clutch for more torque capacity, 5 gear input carrier for greater strength, and the performance programming for the transmission control module/TCM. The automatic also includes a transmission cooler in the radiator.

As we have said in the past, being included in the workings of Corvette/c6 since 02, this car is only explainable if you drive it. Once you do drive it, nothing less will do. Talking about it does it no justice.:hb

Paul,

Thanks for the view from the "inside" of our favorite car! I was wondering how you opened the doors if the power died.

C4C5,

What is the maximum torque that the stock transmission will be able to handle?
Is the car expected to run cooler or will the fans come on at the same temps like the C5's? Is the radiator basically the same?

Great info! That is good stuff that I would like to know!! Thanks! Keep it coming.

I'm wondering about this because about a month ago I drove not one but several C6s and with none of the manuals was this true. That is, you could shut off the engine with the trans in any gear, however...you couldn't "lock" the car unless the trans was in reverse and the keyless transmitter was outside the car.

Now, it is possible that none of the vehicles I drove had a release cal. in the body computer, I supppose but are you sure that's what GM told you guys in training?

HI there,
Exactly, to the letter, in the IDL that I took. GM Service Know How IDL. 3 hour IDL today, from 2-5 is more in depth technical, so I will ask them directly again.

Edmond,
The fans are pulsewidth modulated from the cooling fan control module.
The PCM sees a temperature or AC pressure from the HVAC and then modulates air flow through the radiator in different levels. Once on, the speed becomes variable.
As for the transmission, we are told 490 ft lbs, both automatic and standard.

Hey there, Hib,
After talking with them again, the reconfirm that you cannot shut the car down completely without having the vehicle in either park for automatics or reverse for the manuals. The engine will turn off, however the car will be in accessorie mode which keeps all electrical functions powered up until you engage park or reverse.
Then, the entire car will power down.

Stupid drivers who might leave the car in neutral and try and leave. There is also audible warnings if someone attempts to leave the car anyway.

Question? I have not heard how to shut the car off!!!!! I know it is push start, so do you push stop? I know it is a stupid question, but I never thought about it before. Great info as always. Keep it up. We are all lucky to have you in our forum. Thank you.

Thanks for all the good information. Maybe we should change your name to C4throughC6Specialist or c4c5c6specialist.

The last (2) two sentences say it all. This C6 Corvette over shadows my previous C5 by miles! I love my ride! :)
