I want to install an after market CD changer in my Vette, but Im concerned about the location to mount it. Are there any forum members that have installed any, and whats the location that best worked for you?

In my '87 I put a multi-CD player in the compartment behind the passanger seat. Mine, like most you buy these days, can be mounted flate or upright. I built a little platform, about 4" wide just high enough to sit flush with the part of the compartment that comes back towards the seat. The player sat right on top of that and all you have to do is open the hatch door and pop out the CD caddie. Works great.

:) I bought a JVC 12 Disk and placed it behind the passenger seat and the amp behind the drivers seat.....works great and the targa top can still fit in the hatchback....

The 10 disc changer I purchased would not fit behind the seat (too thick) or inside the storage bin (too wide). I ended up mounting it vertically in the rear of the cargo area, about 2" off the back wall. You can safely drill in the the bottom there for the mounting screws. I then built a full width box to hide the changer (with room for a pair of 8" subwoofers down the road) covered the entire box with matching grey carpet from a set of inexpensive floor mats, all held in place with velcro. Works well and kept me in the garage for the better part of a rainy afternoon!. Good Luck.

Had that same setup in mine. Out of the way yet easy access.
Removed it when I had new HU installed.
