Hi Everyone - I am looking to find my dream C2 vette and I quickly realize that I won't find one locally. Does anyone know of appraisers (hopefully national) that can take a look at a car for me when I find the right car? Currently I am looking at one in the orlando area.

I will definately fly and personally look, but I need someone to ensure it is as advertised prior to me flying around the country! Also, getting someone knowledgable and experienced when spending this kind of money will ensure my ulcer doesn't act up too much :)

Thanks for any info!

your best bet is probably to contact an NCRS chapter local to where the car is or a local Corvette club where the car is and see if a member knowledgable in C2's of one of those clubs can go take a look at the car for you. A fee paid to that person to go evaluate the car would be money well spent before you fly down there.

Thanks Barry - I am having trouble finding someone. I did reach out to the NCRS but got a mailbox full. I also don't want to impose on club members since I'm not a member.....yet :)

If anyone knows of a commercial service that I can engage or has other advise please let me know! I'll continue searching!

Sorry, I don't know any national appraisers.

I wouldn't call offering someone a fee to look at a car "imposing" on them but hey, we all feel differently! Now, asking a stranger to do it for free is another story but offer them a couple hundred bucks and it's no longer an impostion. :D

Hehe - since you put it that way.... :)

Visited your website - Nice Rides!

I would suggest a posting headline such as this "looking at C2 in Orlando, need someone local to take a look at it for me"

Post it here and then also over at CorvetteForum.com in the C1/C2 section. I did that for a C3 I was looking at in Atlanta, got someone to take a look at it for me, ended up buying the car.....

If I was you, that is what I would do.....realize that the someone you ask may not be a full blown NCRS judge, but hey, you are after someone to take a look make sure it is all there blah blah blah.....

good luck!!!

Herb

ps...Barry is the bomb!!! (that means good if you didn't know that Barry!)

Good luck on your search.
If you found one between the North Carolina / Virginia boarder on 95 to south Myrtle Beach to West - Raleigh, NC; I would look at it for you. I have friends (builders) the other side of Raleigh that might look as far as Ashville, NC. There is a lot of networking that goes on in this group. 5 or 6 people like that and you could cover the eastern seaboard.

The other suggestion of posting on this forum and Corvette Forum and ask if someone is in the area, if they would look at it for you, snap some digital pics possibly provide an off the cuff appraisal. This should be enough to decide if plane tickets are in order.

As stated, good luck on your search. Let us know when you find that special C2. We'd love to hear about it.

I wouldn't hang my hat on a typical "professional appraiser" - most of them don't know any more about old Corvettes than I do about cold fusion; the best approach is a knowledgeable NCRS judge - someone who KNOWS old Corvettes and deals with them regularly.

John's advice is right on the money. Don't even consider anyone that does not have extensive vintage Corvette experience.

Take care,
Brian

I know of a very nice red '66 390hp convertible in southern new jersey, due east of philadelphia....$$$
