I've seen a couple of posts on headers here.Would appreciate any pointers on the best headers for the buck and where to buy for my C-5 y2K 6spd coupe.I'll have a cam and head package done also.Anybody know specifics on RKSports long tubes?:m

I'm not sure who makes the best but I know long tubes are better than short tubes . The shorties just are not worth it because of the lack of HP gained.

I have been looking also, the best I have found is the LG long tube headers. Not only do they make good power, but their installation seems to be simpler then many of the others, especially the Kooks.

There are many option. It all depends on how much work you want to do and how much you want to spend.
I personally choose TPIS headers for the best value (the free install swayed the decision) This is a GREAT mod for your car. I cant believe how stronger the car feels.

I have recently been watching the Halltech header development. They are titanium and according to Jim Hall can remove 60 lbs from your car. Not sure about the O2 sensor connections (whether he uses 4 or uses two sims in the rear like the LG's) and whether they are emissions compliant. The photos I have seen to date don't seem to show an air hookup. He hasn't finalized the design yet from what I understand and some of the comments he has gotten on what people want may feed back into the design. He is also planning a stainless version as well. This is a Tri-Y setup so I don't know how much power they will make compared to the LG's. Right now I am leaning towards the LG's, but am watching these others for dyno results. Since I probably won't pull the trigger until late summer, I will just bide my time.

I've spoken to Bellanger in Arizona and Dynotech re: their respective headers- they look pretty darn good - Stainless Works look very sharp as well- I know the LG's are great also but with this selection, I don't think you can go wrong.Price is an issue with the above , but JBA in San Diego is designing a new long tube system also- may be more reasonable.Bellanger makes a point re: Stainless steel- it retains heat and they like the Powder coated treatments>If I had 1200-1500 intead of 800 to spend I'd pick the Bellanger or LG's too.

Based on everything I have been reading, you need to retain the heat (re: comment on stainless steel) to keep the O2 sensors working correctly.

I know this thread is long dead......but you can't go wrong with long tube headers from TPIS......without going into great detail, I have a friend who is a custom header builder in the Northern burbs of Detroit......he says either a custom made set or the TPIS......they are the best bet for the money and they are not bad to install.......His name is Gary Cook, he owns Performance Fabrication and Engeering.......1-586-949-3400.......I let him tell the story of the Headers that LOST horsepower when istalled.......Jimmy Lopez

Huh??

When you say "...remove 60 lbs..." you're, of course, referring to a whole exhaust system, right? I can't see how headers could weigh more than ~10 lbs, total.

I've been watching the Dynatech's lately. They look like a very good header for the price. Not many dyno's posted yet.

Wow!

WOW, does Dynatech really make a C5 header? I was not aware of that. I know of their good headers for older SBC's, just didn't know about this application. Do you have any P/N's?

WOW :eek Those really look a lot like FLP's!!
Dynatech makes the FLP's, but they are NOT copies of the FLP's. Dynatech started fresh and designed their own headers. LG Motorsports has made allogations that they are copies of his headers. I'll be buying them soon. They cost ~1480 with cats and X-Pipe.
