Look what I had to do to my new headers!!!

I can't believe it....New coated Dynomax headers and I had to dent them to get the plug wire to fit. See the photo attached. Fred.

I thought I had an "after" shot of what we had to do to get access to the plug and also keep it from arcing. The engine is out once again, to address that issue as well as a few other annoyances. :eyerole

That is a typical problem.

Just FYI, I try to get my headers first in painted version, fit them to the car (or shall I say dent them to the car), then send them out for coating.

The best thing to do is to place a towel on the header, then take something solid in the shape you want it to be dented (jack handle, pipe, pull handle handle), place it in the spot and hit the solid object with a hammer. This will create the shape.

Worst case, you will use a small torch to heat the spot and it will make it easier to reshape.
 
accell makes a shorty plug for headders check them out. hope this helps!
 
I could only get NGK shorty plugs to fit the AFR 195's. If you see the 2nd photo we used a sparkplug socket to Ding the header so the plug boot would not touch the header. It worked pretty well. It did not hurt the coating and is not very noticeable on spark plug #4. Fred
 
I ran into a problem with my hooker super comps on one plug. but it was my fault becuase i bought the headers before i got the angle plug heads. no problem tho. found a shorter plug. That accel plug you were talkin about? what part number would that be?
