Yellow, 19,000 miles pretty well loaded and in good shape. 6 speed, black interior. Price will be about $31,500 after all of the negotiations are done. Here is my quandry. I have a terrific 96 CE, LT4 with only 33,000 miles. Red interior and Z51. I am wondering if I will enjoy the C5 more than my current baby. I need your advice. I know that you guys have had C4's before and can give me the straight info. Help.

best,
Mark

I've owned neither but driven both and here's my $.02. The thing I enjoyed most about the LT4 is how raw it feels. Kinda rough around the edges so you never forget what you're driving. All of the C5s I've driven have had more than enough power and I would love to have one but they never had that raw "please sir drive me faster" feeling.

Never having owned them, I can't attest to the daily driver aspect of it with traffic, maintenance, etc, but judging from my relatively limited experience I think I'd like the LT4 better since any Vette I own will be a funtime car, not a daily commuter.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll be happy either way.

Hi Mark,

You are not in a quandry.

From what I understood from your post, you're going to have two vettes!!

We have two C5s in the family.
My 2001 Tripleblack (in my signature) and my wife's 2002 Z06.
They are both very easy to drive and have plenty of power.
My wife's car is a daily driver but the Z06 is a beast too.

We've made two trips from South Florida to the corvette museum in Bowling Green in my roadster and they were both very comfortable trips.
I averaged 28.5 MPG on my last trip and closer to 29 mpg on the first trip.

Having said all this, I've driven C4s, and they are fun. All vettes are fun to drive. Take it from me...we have three!!

Go for the C5 though, you'll love it!!

Good luck and Happy New Year!!

Pedro

In my humble opinion, you cannot beat the C5 for comfort, convenience and power.

We have both a 2002 convertible (6-speed) and a 1996 Grand Sport convertible (LT4). I love them both, but not necessarily for the same reasons!;)

I love the '02...the looks, the power, the comfort...but there's no comparing the way it drives to the way my Grand Sport drives!! I absolutely love the GS 6-speed and much prefer it to the '02 6-speed. They're totally different. Yes, the '02 is fast, but it's a very different feel when I drive the GS.

I'm just glad that I don't have to choose between the two we have. The Grand Sport is here to stay and will still reside in our garage years from now, I'm sure!

I know I didn't really help you make this tough decision!:(

Good luck!

Elaine

I was going to sell my LT4 to buy the "01" but after reading your responses I will keep it and look for a Z06 in the spring. I knew you guys would come up with the right answer! I love the LT4, very fast. Very good looking with red leather interior. Now all I have to do is find a place to garage a second vette.:-)))

Thanks,
Mark

87Mark I think you arrived at the right decision! I look forward to adding a C5 to my garage too but I will not part with my 96CE.
Good luck.

Never owned a C4 but have driven them .I had a Z06 and a coupe and they are smooth as glass to drive in the Z 140 MPH before you know it in the LT4 rougher and more of a race car feel. Liked them both . If you like smooth , fast , and easy to drive get the C5, If you like not as smooth and more car feel keep the LT4. I think you will go with the C5. Good Luck :beer
