I've been searching for an EGR solenoid for a '90 but can't seem to find one. Any help?

What's goin' on with the EGR?

I have a code 32. I've taken it to my brother's auto tech teacher, who knows what he's doing, and we think that the solenoid went bad since there is no vacuum coming from one of the lines. Does that sound correct? or is it just the egr valve not the solenoid.

ENHANCED DIAGNOSTICS (Code 32)
Model and Year:
1990-91 CAMARO AND CORVETTE
WITH 5.0L AND 5.7L ENGINES

DTC32 is a can of worms.

To test the valve itself, press upward on the diaphragm, between the frames, while it's idling. The thing is kind of like a speaker, with the 'voice coil' part attached to a pintle, that blocks a port to the intake. Press it, and you create a vacuum leak. The motor will stumble.

Does it lope idle at all when warm?

I would try to print the attachment and take it to the auto tech teacher. ;shrug

Kinda hard on a TPI ; is buried behind the runners and beneath the plenum

what do you mean by lope idle?

Lope idle - once warmed up, idle goes up and down by a couple of hundred rpms. Down to 400, up to 950 or so, back down, back up, you'll notice it especially at stoplights when you stop, it will pull ready to go...

solenoids are very reliable, it's basically just a magnet. i have a hunch it's the egr valve itself, and possibly one or more leaks in the vacuum line, they get very brittle after awhile. but the code 32 is notoriously difficult to trace or fix on the l98, i used to get it occasionally in my 1990 under certain conditions: when I was driving between 50 and 55 on the highway on a certain stretch of road, for more than 15 minutes, i know it sounds weird but the light would come on and then blink out after a couple of minutes. it was like the car was saying hi to me. I never did find the problem, and of course couldn't duplicate it for the mechanic.

Nope, no loping. Just finished replacing the egr valve and quite possibly, stock injectors :thumb. The car idles much smoother now. I haven't gotten a chance to take it on a drive at that speed and length to test if the problem remains, probably tomorrow :)
