Hi evereybody. Now I am looking at mufflers. My question is Targa mufflers seem cheap .But I dont want to have to do this again not in my life time any ways. Thanks for any response. Bill 77.

There's only one muffler for a Corvette. FLOWMASTER.....

Got them on my 82 and love them.

I had Flowmasters on my 1978 and they were awesome. Great sound and with the removal of the cats, (not required in GA if car over 25 years old), the rwhp really jumped.

realizing it is a matter of personal choice, i replaced everything from the exhaust manifolds back. i eliminated the cat and installed real duals with NO mufflers, just ansi type resonator tips. car sounds awsome and obviously i have eliminated loads of back pressure. the only mistake i made in hindsight was to stick with 2" pipes. i should have gone with the L82 set up which is 2 1/2" pipes all the way. even though your car has a cat, the middle cross member is open on both side to accept a real dual exhaust set up. the conversion is pretty simple. if i remember correctly, several dealers even have a baffled dual exhaust system which in effect is a set of "side pipes" that run like a stock dual system (no cat), under the car. since it is baffled pipes, there are no "mufflers" as you think of them as part of the system.

obviously, not being subject to inspection or emissions testing in the state of florida makes this conversion possible. if your state treats you kindly in that regard, you should consider putting a real exhaust system on your car, lol.

Magnaflow, sound great. Everybody has flowmaster. Be differant.I got SS Magnaflows for $69.00 each. :D :cool I also got rid of the cat,it made a huge improvment.;)

I checked into the flowmaster 50 Delta's for my '76 and I was told the rear exhaust hanger would have to be modified or replaced, is this true? Also, can you confirm the Flowmaster 50 Delta part number for my '76, I believe it is 942551 and 842551 for stainless.

You can get the Magnaflows tha are a direct replacement for the stock mufflers ,they already have the bent pipe on the end to bolt to the exhaust pipe and the other end to the hanger without modification. I think Corvette Central or MidAmerica has them not sure which one sells them or if they are Stainless.

I got a lot of resonance in the interior with the Flowmasters in the past, I'm running Magnaflows (on Vette and my LS6 Cadillac) with thorley headers. The Magnaflows put the sound out the back of the car instead of the into the interior. Either way you need more noise!

Would anyone reccomend the 40 or the 50 deltas? I tried the Mid America chambered and its to loud for me. (Gave them to a friend who loves em.)

I have got a bonus coming in a month or so, I think I will see if I can get my Flowmaster dealer to let me test a set of Delta 40 or 50's to see which I like better. I have had him install 3 sets of exhaust for me on different trucks so he might help me out.

Flowmaster Delta 50's with a sound clip. The non-Deltas are a little louder and the 40's louder yet.

I could not find the clip. Got a direct link to it?
