Hi there, don't know if this is the right place for this or not, but hopefully some one know where I can get help if not.

Well here it goes, looking to build a twin turbo high revving LS1 or LS6 for a Ultima project, the engine should make at least 800rwhp and be able to rev at least 8000 rpm but looking for 10000rpm. Also interested in the ZR-1 engine if it can be modified to those specs, also I want an engine as light as possible. Does anyone here have the knowledge to help me with this or know where I can look for this help.

Thanks Micael

a few weeks ago, you could have bought a twin turbo C4 that meets your criteria for about $200k :upthumbs in AZ...

RKreigh, in the ZR1 forum here is looking to make mondo power w/ his LSV ZR1 (LT5 stroker car) and is already beyond 500 hp, wayyy beyond :eek

look him up, he is a turbo freak :m

Welcome to the :CAC

Thanks, I'll be looking him up. Do you know if the ZR-1 engine is lighter than the LS1 or ???

Thanks, so how about rpm's, what is the highest that you have seen anyone reporting on their engine, I know I'm asking for much, but don't worry if you don't have the answer have pleany of time to find out.

I am no expert, but I think that you will have a problem getting more than 6500-7000 RPM from a pushrod engine. As I understand it, the valve train cannot operate beyond that without getting valve 'float'. The LS6 engine has lighter valves and stronger springs than the LS1, and still redlines at only 6500 RPM.

The only way you will get there and keep it alive is DRY SUMP oiling. Keep in mind the money you spend to build will be the same amount to keep it running each year............Been there....Done that

LT5 is heavier than the LS1/6, and is taller. Weight and packaging problems are another reason it wasn't upgraded for continued life after C4.

Check around on the other sites, there's at least one twin-turbo LS1 C5 that's making over 1000 hp with turbos. It participated in a big tuner shootout (mostly Supras) last weekend. That's not including the known LPE monsters.

I don't think you can get the SBC to run up into 10K rpm. Even with mechanical roller lifters and cam, it's pushing things to get any durability over 7000 rpm. NASCAR engines don't count! Maybe an interesting de-stroke project...

The Ligenfelter TT C5 that was making 1100 hp was for sale a few weeks ago. I don't know if anyone bought it or not. I don't think you can rev an LS1/6 much over 7K, due to the pushrod design. I do know a few people are revving to 7K, though. I know several guys are making around 800 rwhp out of the LS engines.
