Mark IV Bow Tie Block (Short Deck) Chevy part numbers 10051106 and 12370833 are both discontinued.

How do we get beyond 502c.i. without going to a tall deck block?

Aftermarket? -

Since a 1/4" stroker-crank fits (with clearencing) in the standard-deck 454-block, and a 502"-block is nothing but a 4.470"-bore (same crank as) 454, why wouldn't a 4.250"-crank work?
A .030"-overbore + 4.250" stroke = 540+ CID.
Unless the 502"-block is structurally weaker than the 'old' 454"-block, most everything else is the same, correct?
I'd think the bigger-bore would help 'clear' the longer stroke (rods), too, further reducing the cost (over a 454"-block) of the 'long-arm' Rat.

Hey 67 4.5 by 4.25 will get ya 540cu.in. in a std. deck. used to race one, 8.45 at 161mph in a 2550Lb. Camero!!!!!!!!!!:D
