Low mileage 98 C5 coupe 6speed with Vette doctors heads and cam! Totally civilized & 460 hp..

This very respected friend of mine who specifically wanted total reliability..total civility as a primary factor has the Vette Doctors 450rx and FLP headers/high flow cats/xpipe/corsa touring and the end results were extremely impressive.

The car idles like stock with just the slightest and I mean slightest rumble ..the exhaust sounded as the car is running up the rpm range like a finely honed machine..

The acceleration kick on this was sweet..

I thought it to be an excellent choice in balance.

He could have easily chosen a higher performance cam..but because he went to the Vette doctors and explained what his end goals were for the car..ended up with some very impressive peak numbers and low and mid range power..

Of course..he has a perfectly shined black car..(in and of itself not an easy task)

Mallet rims with michelins...Bistein sports....slotted and drilled rotors..3:73 rear gears..

The car was done up just very nice all around..

He runs once in awhile at pocono raceway in the driving school events...and drag races at englishtown..and Island

His best to date was 11.9's @ 118mph..(second outing)

Today hes trying for even better times..and traps..

It was fun to gether..one of the best parts of the corvette sport is not only the cars but the people..

The vette doctors did a nice job..

Carmen and Dennis really deserve kudos for meeting their clients goals..and thats the key for enjoying a modded car!

The smile on my buddy's face with this car was worth a million bucks..

Back to back runs with my Z..I got to tell you when his relatively mild aftermarket Vette Doctor cam comes on..its sure one hell of a Kick!

Total civility..I would imagine the best words to describe his engine..was balance..

Certainly better then anything out of europe..at any price..

When I asked him about the C6..He said this was his C6 and its a keeper! ;)

JBsC5,

That sure sounds like a sweet setup.

Is that rearwheel hp?

Could you post the dyno sheet or at least give me some hp numbers across the rpm range.

I only want to know how flat the curves are.

Rick

Rick,

This gentlemen who owns the car just told the vette doctors what he wanted to do.

Although he was present at the last dyno where its rear wheel hp was 410 ..and he told me the torque..I can't remember.

I would bet he does not have the sheets..

But hopefully depending on the conditions at the track today he'll be 11.5's or so..and with a trap at 120mph..

Its a very humid day but you never know..

He was pretty much running the stock motored C5 six speed at 12.9 @ 110mph...give or take..

The jump to 11.9's @ 118mph last week was really this very streetable Vette doctor package..(and my friends consistantly strong driving ability)

That push as the revs climb is pretty cool.. I got a big kick out of it.

I thought you guys would enjoy hearing about how nice his car turned out.

Believe me I did enjoy hearing about how nice it came out.

Thanks,

Rick

Sounds like a nice set up...

I'm also tossing around the idea of a heads and cam package. Main issue is warranty or rather voiding it if I go thru with it.
Has anyone had the Katech package - stage II. If so, how'd it turn out and were you satisfied? I'm considering them as they are located nearby so I figure the follow up support would be there.

Brett

Brett,

I'm a firm believer if at all possible to have a tuner sell and install a package is the best case scenerio so thats the way I would go.

The only thing I would suggest doing on the Katech heads (or anyones for that matter) is spending the few extra dollars on dual springs. Its only a couple of hundred dollars more but money well spent in my opinion.

I know if I go with heads and cam down the road..I'll spend the few extra dollars on that. The added durability is worth it in my opinion.
