Exspain what your trying to do. I just built a custom 62 that had the aircleaner poking up thru the hood.

Soome of the information I found was that the big block novas used a real low profile intake manifold and air cleaner set up so nothing protruded thru the hood.

I also just purchased from paragon reproductions a low profile air cleaner base that is used from 66 thru 69 big block vettes and with some minor modifications it works perfect with my barry grant speed demon.(I am not below the hood level real close though)

Good Luck with it

Trying to fit a dual plane intake under the stock hood of a big block Corvette! Like this one off of Paranoid's vette.

I got mine from corvette world about2 yrs ago, 2" drop with chrome top .The only thing is it comes with the metal pipe on the bottom for some sort of air re circulation (?) but I just cut it off and covered it. I have loads of room now, was 99$ plus shipping

Is that an oil filled coil?

You know I am not sure if it is or not. the bracket I am using is a msd bracket,I have had at least 3 folks tell me its not a good idea to mount the coil horizontal on the manifold. I never read the installation instructions for the coil,I read all of the other instruction on the system and none specified how or where to mount the coil.I am going to read the instructions to see if its ok to mount horizontally

I found that depending on throttle linkage, fuel line, and location of some other carb attachments that the lowest of the drop down bases would not always work. I didn't like the idea of a filter open only on the top either because it seemed like the hood, when closed, could shut off the flow. I had good luck using a 2, 2 1/4, or 2 1/2 inch tall 18 inch diameter filter with Summit's $18 air cleaner. This base drops down some, but not as much as others. I believe the air filter I found was a Mr. Gasket. This was on my brother's 69 small block. For what it's worth and good luck.

One thing I guess I should have mentioned, I dont have an electric choke (i have a holley mech secondaries), I am pretty sure if I had the choke the filter base would not fit
