Low Tire Pressure Warning

My wife called me last night a little concerned because she got a low tire pressure warning. By the time I called her back it had gone away. Tire pressure is good in all tires. I am thinking it may have been because it was cold. Anybody else ever had this happen?

When you say the tire pressure is good, what do you read when the tire is cold?

When I had my 99' FRC, I always got a low tire pressure warning in the cold weather. Yes it is true, cold weather does affect it. If you check the pressure manually with a guage, you will see that it's the cold weather. I would ignore it after you verify the pressures. It is kind of a pain, but you can't do anything about it.

The car was indicating 26psi in all but one and that was showing 25. I forget which tire was the odd ball. I manually checked this morning and all four tires showed about 28-29. I bumped them all to 30. I figured it was a cold weather thing.

That should solve your problem. The tires should be at 30psi cold. The low pressure sensor is set to trigger at 24psi. If your tires were at 25-26psi, then any drop in temperature would cause you to get the warning. Happy Vetting.

The warning comes on at 25 psi on my 99. Yes, temperature has a lot to do with it. The Goodyear EMT appears to change several pounds when the temperature drops into the 30's.
