Hey gang,

I really want to lower my C5 - nothing specatacular - just the standard 1" drop on the stock bolts. Like to hear from any of you that have done this and how things are going in terms of drivabilty (clearance, handling, alignment, etc.).

Thanks,
Remo:cool

Mine was lowered all the way (about 2") when I got it and looked great; but It hit everywhere and was a PIA I had to jack it up and put it on skates to get it on my lift. I raised it up about 1 1/2 to where I can get it on/off the lift and it made driving a whole lot easier. I drive mine every day so drivability was more important then looks.
when I got it.

depending on how much you drive it and more important the road conditions would determine how much to lower it.

Hi Remo -

I have lowered several C5's - including both of mine.

I went to the stock limits - which is an inch in the rear and a smidge under an inch in the front.

I notice absolutely no drivability issues whatsoever - none.

The air-deflector will make contact with the ground more often - but not a ton (it's really low to start with, right?)

The look is so much better, I don't know why anyone would keep the 4x4 look after seeing them side by side, but some still do.

Of my immediate friends who ahve C5's, all but one have lowered and none have had issues. We all live in central Illinois (which is an native american indian word meaning "terrible roads") and have not destroyed our front fascias on any bumps.

Go for it!!!! I am going lower with my Z06, as I have 19" wheels and it still doesn't look the way I would like.

best regards -

I lowered mine the other day. I got longer bolts for the rear and cut the front bushings.

I lowered mine all the way on stock bolts and cut about 1/2 of the front bushing. The ride didn't change that much but I have to be real careful what I run over!

I lowered mine about an inch. Other than maybe feeling a little rougher I've had no other issues. The change in how the car looks is well worth it.

Hey Remo,
I lowered mine last year to the end of the stock settings. No real issues with clearance. What I did notice immediately was the stiffer ride. Bumps are more jarring now. I assume it is because the suspension doesn't have as much movement to absorb the bumps. At least once or twice every ride, I wince as a bump sends a bone rattling jolt :CRASH through me. It usually startles Tammy enough to get an "Oww......that hurt" responce.

It's bothersome enough that I'm considering raising both ends up 1/4" this winter and see how much that helps.

I must of lowered mine too much. The dealer broke my rocker panel backing it off the alignment machine today. I was very upset.

Save the nose of your Corvette with a set of Bumper Savers. An active skid plate design with integrated urethane wheels eliminates costly front-end damage from lowering, steep driveways or other road obstacles. Installation takes approximately 1 hour with welding required to the radiator supports. Hardware and detailed instructions included.

Your 3-piece spoiler's center piece is spring-loaded and can bounce right back in place, however, the left and right sections are not, which means they could rip off altogether if you hit a bumper block or curb. To alleviate this, Mid America introduces the Spoiler Reinforcement Kit. These black, ABS plastic brackets take the brunt of a bump and prevent bolts from sliding through, keeping your spoiler securely in place. Kit includes one left and one right bracket and installs easily using existing fasteners.
