hi alllll

is the camaro LS1 engine has the same c5 LS1 engine ... i mean is have same heads ...... can i fit ls1 camaro heads on my c5

please help

i beleve all the Gen III (outside of the Vortec 8100 "496" BB) heads will swap. There are quite a few Fbody guys running ported LS6 heads, along with the Vortec truck heads, b/c of it bumping up compression, and when ported, flow just as well as LS1s. Personally, if i was spending the $$$ on a set of heads, i'd do ported LS6 heads from someone like ARE, or MTI (outside of head/cam/nitrous applications, i wouldn't trust MTI tho) or talk to LPE and see what he can do.

But c4c5 answer'd the ? already with a yes they will fit. And are the heads identical? I believe compression is different between the two, one @ like 10.2 the other @ 10.1. I'm sure c4c5 knows ;)

LS1 heads yield 10.1:1 comp ratio, the smaller cc chamber of the LS6 heads yield a 10.5:1 assuming all else is stock. Plus, I am quite certain that the LS6 valves are 2.02" intake dia, and 1.55"exhaust dia. I can't remember off hand what the LS1 valves are, but I am pretty sure they are smaller dia. I'm thinking the intake dia is 1.94" and the exhaust is 1.50" but I'm really not positive about that info.

I was thinkin even smaller, more like 1.8x vs 1.94 here's a thought, maybe i should be smart and use the Model Center to tell me what valves they use :duh It no say :( (obviously you used it earlier, or you're just a big ole smartypants vettepilot ):t

Ling...
ha, ha, no I'm not that smart... but I do try to get as much info as possible about the C5 specs etc. Seeing that I have worked quite a bit on all the other generations at one time or another. I was one of those kids who, when growing up, took apart all my toys just to see what made them run. Sometimes that was the last time they ran. :) Glad to say, I had much better luck with cars.

Yeah, i'd do the same to my truck esp being im getting to the point where i want to learn more and more, to save myself some $$$$ (being college teaches you one thing....being broke, aint fun!) and, im not scared of it not workin...im scared of my dad finding out i did it :L

But, i try to learn as much as possible, but sometimes it sucks not havin access to anything to get "hands on" learning with...oh well. An Fbody may have to satisfy my performance needs ;) that or a GSX-R750 lol
