What else is the block/design for the LSx engine used in? I realize that it's available in the [former] F-body cars, that it's coming in the GTO, and CTS V-series, but is it also the 6-liter "Vortec" engine found in Chevy trucks? Did they stroke the LS-1 and make it iron, or are those things completely different? Since the Gen 1 350 faded away, and definitely with the disappearance of the LT-1/4, I've gotten confused.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

Hi there,
Yes, there are a number of engines which utilize the Generation 3 small block, as it is called.
4.8, 5.3, and 6.0 displacement sizes are in the trucks, be it the 1500 or the 2500, and also in the Hummer H2, which carries in in 6.0 liter form. Just remember though, all truck engines use a cast iron block, for strength.
The 5.7 was used in F car, as you have stated, and also in Corvette.
I hope that this answers all your questions, if not, please feel free to ask away.
Allthebest, c4c5:hb
