lt-1 timing

What should a 1970 lt-1 be idling at and what should the timing be at.

Im sure theres alot of lt1 owners out here.

Thanks for the help guys.

The Haynes book says 14 degrees btdc for the timing at idle, but I can't find a specified idle speed. Maybe someone else can find a spec, but I would suggest about 800 rpm for an idle speed.

Nah the engine is in a 1978 trans-am and the engine is from a 1970 corvette lt-1.

Isn't the idle speed posted ona plate in the engine compartment along with some other information of the same nature?

Where exactly would this information be?

In my brothers trans am its right in the front of the engine bay. But it does not relate because its not the original engine. In my 77 vette its in the upper driver side corner towards the window.

Okay, so it's near the firewall then on the drivers side? Thanks! :)

Depends some on octane.....
Bump it up until it pings under load in 3rd or 4th then back it off 2 degrees.
Old racer formula........:Steer :Steer :Steer :v
