LT1 computer in an l98???

I was wondering today what would have to be done to use an lt1 computer in an l98 car.

I was thinking that the ease of lt1 edit would make tunning much less of a headache. I was thinking that the sequential fire injection that the lt1 runs (right?) would be a little better.

I thought " just get a painless wiring harness and rig it up", then the optispark came to mind. I dont see what would stop me from running a non-computer distributor... or maybe the add on box for my accel 300+ that gives you complete ingition control... or maybe... both computers. I dont know... need an ignition solution.

So can it be done? Has anyone done it? Would it be worth doing? What might it cost to do? etc, just your general opinion.

thanks,

-chris

This is a scary thought; to me at least... The ECM (computer) interfaces and exchanges information with so many sensors, controllers and other parts of the car... To me you should never go that far modifying a car. You may end up having to pay for a complete LT-1 package at the end, which may get as expensive as buying a decently used second hand LT-1 Corvette...

Lets see what others say to the idea...

why stop there though? Why not get an ls1 computer and run a true sequential/ distributor-less ignition system. Just get the appropriate sensors, crank trigger, wiring harness right??

have you ever worked on these cars? the early model C4 vette gauges are nothing like the later model LT version or LS version. if you want ease of tuning go with DFI and you keep the old computer which runs the gauges but with ease of tuning similar to LT/LS1 edit. your talking too much money to try and make a LT or LS computer work on an L98 car.

but where is the major cost? My digital dash doesnt work. The gauges are not an issue. I can live without cruise control or vats...

The way I see it... TEC3 is 1500 for the base unit not including a crank trigger some needed sensors, the many coils etc...

Accel gen 7: Not a distributor-less system... still really expensive.

F.A.S.T.. very expensive.

stock computer from an lt1 car and wiring harness..... goes to highest bidder, and for a low 3 digit price.

By no means am I saying I am going to do it... Im am considering why I shouldnt do it.

wow, cool link. Thanks. Thats an option.

However, you dont get the cool points for having an early c4 with a distributor-less ignition system. It would be nice to have sequential fuel injection.

At this point I have skipped lt1 and moved straight to ls1 computer in an l98.

I was also considering the megasquirt system, but it has no ignition at all.

thanks,
