LT4 LT4 modifications

I P.U. a 96' LT4 last october. I Immediately installed a K&N air filter and got rid of the factory shroud. Curious about other types of performance mods that "work". I've read alot of crap on how to increase quarter mile times and horsepower. I'd like to hear from other LT4 owners what truly works and what doesn't. I'm thinking of a different rear-end and performance exhaust. GIve me feed back please.

Welcome to the CACC Dale. If your concerned with 1/4 mile times, the best single mod you can make would a 4.10 rear end. I had a Corsa cat-back exhaust on my GS, along with an open air lid, and a couple of other goodies. You might also want to look into a throttle body coolant bypass.

Of course, there are the old standby's of a hot-cam, heads, and boreing and stroking the motor.

I'm doing Corsa & then some handling mods. The 3.45 is really pretty good unless you're going to drag race, then 4.10's are supposed to work better.

4:10 gears will be quicker in the 1/4 mile IF you can get Traction. Slicks are a must if you go with this ratio but your rear end and drive line parts WILL fail if you do this TOO much. If money is no problem have FUN as your times WILL drop as will your wallet.

Some of the best starting mods:

1. Full exhaust, quality long tube headers (TPIS or Exotic Muscle), high flow cats and performance mufflers.
2. Gears.
3. Cam
4. N2O
