I am a new member and have not owned a vette since my experience with my 84. But I am trying to find out of the 320 1996 Purple Corvettes - There are 130 with black int. How many coupes in this color combo had the LT4 option package. Any help would be great. I believe the Purple was the lowest production number of all colors.

Thanks

Michael

thanks for the replies

I am suppose to pick one up in 2 weeks
it is a 1996 Dark Purple blk/int. 6 sp LT4 with 61,000 miles
the car is all stock with glass top.
I probably paid too much but these cars have a wide range of pricing - i ahve been out of the vette market for 15 yrs so what is a fair price ??
just curious from members
The car is great only 2 stone chips and look almost new.

Congratulations 1996purplelt4 and welcome to the CAC, that’s a rare color for ’96.

You’re going to enjoy your LT4, they have one heck of a great motor that will put a devilish grin on your face as the tach needle sweeps upwards.

Pricing... my humble opinion here... If there aren't any issues with the car, and you will not have to outlay any money in the near future, I could see paying between $15,000 or $16,000 for the car at a private sale. This would be for a car with documentation and as I mentioned, no issues.

Others will chime in, but if I was in the market, I would not have any reservations about spending that kind of money for the right car -- by right car I mean one that is going to make you happy and it’s been well cared for.

Hopefully you’ll be able to post some pics of your LT4, we love pics!

Some people have picked up LT4s for a song, but, I think they may be the exception.

Welcome Mike. You sure will have a nice and rare vehicle there in a few days. If condition is good, shoes are newer and interior clean; I'd pay 17-18K all day long. As long as the motor was maintained well, she's just broken in at 60k!!
Enjoy :beer

I have one of the 320 purple metallic 1996 Corvettes. Mine has the black interior and LT4 engine. When I bought the car in December of 2004 it had 55,000 miles. I now have 65,000 miles. I consulted the previously mentioned Web page and I think that 79 of the 320 had the LT4 engine, and 27 of them were coupes with the black interior. So, it is a semi-rare car. Oh, and a fast one too. :)

I know that the person that owned the car before me was a Corvette/Chevy car collector. He did nothing to the car. Other than a K&N filter everything was totally stock. As a matter of fact, at 55,000 miles the original tires were still on the car. Mechanically, the car is just about perfect. You can tell that he drove the car by looking at the nose of the car. The owner's son said that his dad only took the car out of their climate controlled garage to drive on long trips to NASCAR races.

All of this makes me leary of whether I should add an aftermarket exhaust or any other modifications. I wonder if the car will have any increased collectability because of the engine/color combination, and I am not sure how far from stock would hurt the value.

Things that I have done to the car in the last year: I put Baer Eradispeed rotors and Hawk brake pads on the car to get the brakes working like new. I upgraded the shocks to the Z51 Bilsteins from the base Bilsteins that came with the car. I changed the plug wires and plugs with stock replacements. I also changed all of the fluids in the car (transmission oil, engine oil, rear gear oil, radiator, brake fluid, [clutch is next]). I replaced aging lenses on lights and other interior and exterior components with GM stock replacements. I replaced all of the weather stripping with GM stripping. I've tried to keep it very stock, but I really do want an exhaust.

Now that’s one LT4 that has found a good home! You should be able to add your desired exhaust without any problems of hurting future resale value/collectability. You could hang onto your OEM exhaust and if needed, return it to your car at a later date.

I've always loved the Black metallic rose. My wife and I graduated from a school with a purple color and I wanted to get a purple one and a plate "3X Cat".

I wouldn't worry about the exhaust change out.
