I plan on driving from Seattle to Tucson this summer and have no place for "stuff". If I get a rack and put it on the rear deck, how is it installed.....gas tank removal??
A small trailer is another option

The rack is secured with "well nuts" supplied with the mounting hardware. It is just a rubber plug with a threaed insert at the bottom. When you tighten down on the screw the plug will expand. All the work is done from the top of the deck

When you get to looking for luggage. Check out Sealine at a sporting goods store. Its water proof luggage for sea kyaking. I got their biggest bag. It covers the rack, is black, holds enough for a few days to a week, and sits low enough to still see over a little

Here's an idea: fedex the luggage to Tucson. Or buy new clothes.
How much $$$ does a luggage rack cost?
