I looking to replace the MAF and was wondering about the ends, I heard the the ABS ones retain less heat but the metal ones retain heat and rob some HP. Any evidence on this, I would much rather use the anodized ones for looks but if there going to take away HP I'll stay with the ABS ones. Also the metal ones have a smoother flow than the ABS. Or are both of them basically the same

If they are the same size I would say the flow should be the same. Just make sure the throats of whichever one you use are as smooth as possible. The plastic does not act as a heat sink like the metal ones do. That way the intake air is not trying to cool the MAF as it flows through the unit by absorbing the heat radiating from the metal ends. I'm sure it doesn't amount to much but every little bit helps. IMO:s
