who can give a honest opinion on the difference between a car equip.with run flats and mag ride shocks and a car equip with non-runflats and regular tires.everyone knows that non-runflats run better than runflats but when you add mag ride shocks (avail on 50th and 04's) i feel the point is mute i have owned both and the mag shocks are the best.

regular tires=regular shocks should have proofed it

As you have noticed, the MagnaRide is the suspension that makes the best use of the run-flats tires. However, I think a regular tire on a MagnaRide car would be the best of both worlds. I just don't have any proof of that. I'm still wearing out the run-flats on my AE and I never got the chance to try a different tire on my old 98.

Putting run-flats on my old 92 years a go was the biggest ride and handling mistake I ever made with that car. Wish the MagnaRide stuff was available for retro-fitting on to older cars!

Yes, non-runflat tires with the F55 (magnetic selective ride control) suspension IS the best of both worlds. I am running Michelin Pilot Sport tires (265/40-17 Front and 295/35-18 Rear (on Z06 rims)) with the F55 suspension. Before switching to the Michelins, the Goodyear runflats were rougher riding (less than on a non-F55 equipped car; but still rougher in ride (especially after installing the Michelins)). The down side is that I have to carry a can of Slime flat fixer and air compressor - but the ride is worth it in my opinion.
