Antbody here running a magna charger? I am still contenplating one but have been advised they good on the dynos but not soo good at the track and that a head and cam package make more useable power at the track

I really wanted the magna charger for the show aspected of it not the go aspect and also feel its more of a bolt on installation except for the drilling of the crank for the pulley

Ive heard of guys running 11s w/ slicks and just the Magna before. Most ppl probably steer clear of it, cause you have to have a cowled hood in order for it to fit, and ppl would rather run a Vortech or ATI that tucks into the engine bay.

MagnaChargers are good blowers. Probably some of the better ones in that style out today. Havent heard about them not pulling the track times tho. Thats a first for me anyway

I like the way the Magna looks also ...

Magna charger is a stunning performer...and comes with a 3 year /36K mile drivetrain warranty...about 8 grand installed..

Smart move..extremely strong performer..

My opinion of what others are saying is...the magnacharger system is designed to be extremely reliable on every installation...so it doesn't take the hp increase to the absolute limit..which in my mind makes sense for most enthusiassts ...

Sure as hell 500hp is more than any sane person needs....and I believe thats where the magna charger is..give or take a few ponies..

Bone stock these cars we own are worlds best..putting on a magnasum supercharger which has lower limits of utlimate power with even further modding..wouldn't be a concern for most of us...

Sure the other supercharger kits....and turbo charger kits might have more potiential..for hp..but imho..the bottom line is reliablity could suffer..

Same goes for heads and cam ..

Personally..I'll probably do a cam when the warranty comes close to expiring if I don't fall in love with the new C6..and I'm sure it will be about 2 grand installed for about 400rwhp..(considering I already have the headers..the intake..the throttle body)

There is no question the magnasum supercharger with drivetrain warranty and putting out huge hp and torque numbers...is a totally different league..especially when you opt for the polished version..

One of the guys on the www.z06vette.com named black magic has a 99 c5 with this supercharger kit on his car..and its a show car..

I would suggest you read his posts and even email him.. He's a really nice guy and will give you his insight on this project he just completed with in the past few months..

Its stunning and he's very happy..

Black Magic..is his forum id.. do a search.

I hope mentioning another forum is ok..? We are all in this to have a good time. The corvette community is the best ...out of respect...if this mentioning of other Z06 sites is an issue...please let me know or edit this.

Good luck..

Here's a quote on his first days impression!

Major "WOODY"
Supercharger is installed and done All I need it the hood from the paint shop (Thur/Fri ???)

Drove home from shop (15 miles) and all I can say is WOW I'm lost for words. I know the new power will leave your pants soiled

Started out slow to insure all was OK (40 mph road - Lindbergh Blvd) for 4-5 miles, then on got onto another "SLOW" road (Page Blvd) headed for the interstate. All this time I was just checking things out and kicking it a little. On the entrances ramp to the Interstate 270 I started pushing a little (3rd gear) and then I hit the interstate I kicked it in the A$$ and the power was overwhelming. It was...Oh hell I can't explain it now, I'm trying to get my jaws unstuck for the permanent smile I now have.

Driving a Black Vette with tinted windows without a hood and polished blower sticking out is just to much to discribe the looks you get going down the road

I've got more pic's that I will get posted on my web site in the near future for those who are interested Now I'm going out in the garage and have another look. Just like a littel kid, not a 60 year old

Good night all

George

I had LPE stick on the super charger on my Vette. I'm glad I had it installed vs. doing it myself. I have not run it yet, but it is set up pretty good. If your driving on a wet road at 35 mph in fourth gear and step on it, it spins.
