Magnetic Red vs Magnetic Red ll - I have a 2004 with magnetic red ll paint, what is different between the two? Are they so close to the same you would need to see them side by side to see they are different? Was the first Magnetic Red a extra cost option? Just curious, thanks.

I'm not sure about the difference in the colors - subtle or dramatic... but I've wondered about that myself.

Here's what the Corvette Black Book has to say regarding the cost of the colors.

1998 Light Carmine Red Metallic - no extra charge - the last year for this color.

1999 Magnetic Red Metallic - $500
2000 Magnetic Red Metallic - $500
2001 Magnetic Red Metallic - $600
2002 Magnetic Red Metallic - $600

2003 NO Mag Red - Anniversary Red

2004 Magnetic Red Metallic II - $750
2005 Magnetic Red Metallic II - $750

If I remember correctly, the Mag Red II has more flake in it.

Not to take away from the thread, but I was watching the NCAA tournament last night, and one of the Chevy commercials has a maroon vette in it that kinda looked like the old "Marlboro Maroon." I thought it was very nice, and I wondered if that was the new Mag Red II color. -John

Magnetic Red ll is a tad darker than than Magnetic Red 1. I ordered a license plate frame in Red 1 and it lighter than my car.... I returned it and ordered the Red 11 and it matched......
