This might open a can of worms and can really be looked at from about a hundred different ways but here is my question.

Why do people hack on their cars in dramatic ways? A coupe into a convertable? Lambo doors?

I can understand regearing the rear end, repainting the car, or even replacing the hood with a different one but Hacking out the T-tops and making it a convertable?

The time and money to convert these cars into something they were never meant to be must be dramatic.

I had a '81. I liked it but always liked the read window of the early 70's. I also liked the flare of the wheel wells of the late '70s but also liked the metal bumpers.

Well basicly i described a '72. So sold the 81 and got a '72.

Im not saying you shouldnt personalize your car. Im not making the "you destroyed a car by not keeping it stock" argument. Im just saying that you cant turn a VW into a BMW, and a T-top isnt a convertable. I would go so far as to say a automatic car isnt a 4 speed car.

Im still not sure where I stand on this argument. Just think its crazy for someone to drop 20K to hack the top off thier car to make it a convertable. Then again I wish I has 20K to drop a BB into my '72 to pick the front tires off the ground. Each to thier own.

Some Vettes are not worth bring back.

So you do what you like!
